I blame you for me placing an order for a set of 15x8's from MX5parts.com.au.

I can now do a comparison of AD08R's on 15 x 6.5", 7" and 8" rims.

Yeah right, Lachiewich is a bad influence.

So how many sets of rims in your stable now "wheel whore"? :P

Seriously though, I do love what you've done with this car Lachiewich - every NA/NB that is saved/restored is worth the effort IMO.

Every MX5 is worth saving :) Cheers Lokiel.

Not enough by the sounds of it :)

Will be getting rid of my wheel collection soon and sticking with 3 sets; 2 with AD08R's (8" and 7" rims) on and 1 with something else. May even get a set of 17/18" wheels for the shell. I'll make sure I ask you for your recommendation :)

Man, just when I was all set to go with 15x8, you show those 9s looking so nice! And now I'm all indecisive again :? 8s allow for 205s or 225s, so there's options, but 9s fill out the guards so nice! (I'm thinking 6ULs though)

Magpie, I'll sell you my SE's 17s if you help me fund my purchase

I was going through the same dilemma, but decided to go with the 8" Advanti Storm S1s. Couple of reasons, they are lighter than the 9" rim, the different offset means that they fill out the guard almost identically to the 9" rim anyway, and I have the option of running a 205 or 225 tyre, as opposed to having to run a 225/45/15 on the 9" rim.

I assume you just prefer the look of the 6UL, as the Advanti Storms are lighter and cheaper?

Finally did a bit more work to my car.
Over the past week I pulled the back end of my car off and repaired some rust, painted the affected areas, painted my rear garnish again and the inside of the boot, and finally added a roll bar so I can now take part in some rally sprint events etc.

Image
Dad was very happy to find out I pulled my car apart in his shed once again...
ImageImageImage

I used a dremel to remove the rust along the boot until there was bare metal Image
Some rust converter was applied to make sure this didn't happen again.
Image
While I was waiting for the rust converter to set (24 hour recommended waiting time) I set to work on the inside of my boot. The previous owner had done a poor job of masking away the fact the car was red in the boot and engine bay. Rattle canned black with what seemed to be little to no prep and hadn't taken effort into removing things such as the battery. I pulled everything out on the bad corner and cleaned it all up.
Image
3 coats of primer done, next up gloss black.
Image
Once the 24 hours had passed I hit the pre rusty area with some primer and then a colour matched green.
Image
Much better
Image
Today I also went to MX5 Mania in Dural and picked up a Brown Davis roll bar in my trusty Toyota Townace.
(Mandatory Old Pac picture)
Image
Image
Roll bar acquired, now to tackle Galston Gorge
Image
The roll bar went in without any issues. Such an easy job.
Image
Gave the rear garnish a hit with some Gloss black as the matte black looked awful.
Image
And the car is back together once again :)ImageImage

Quite a rewarding job

Thanks.
I had a green garnish when I got the car but it cracked and the green wasn't quite right so stuck out like a sore thumb. It will be colour matched when the car gets a respray in the near future :)

Just curious mate, but why paint the boot black if you had some colour matched green?

As above, the green isn't quite right. On a large panel is stuck out and I didn't like it so I kept it black. The car is getting resprayed this year anyway so it will be matched then
