Thanks HKS what I think I will do is just have it straight through and leave it on there for a while. If I don't like it put a hotdog running east west where the muffler is. Thenexhaust place will make a flange so it is bolt on bolt off so if I need to refit OEM I can.

Welded in an electric flap before rear muffler. Open the flap/valve and its opem to atmosphere. closed, it all goes thru muffler as standard.

That's a good plan.

Welding in a hotdog after the fact will be dirt cheap too, the welding should only be $50 or so, plus whatever the dog costs.

Hi members
The muffler delete is done. It's not that loud, doesn't drone at all and the muffler shop took extreme care. Bolt on flange so I can put my other muffler on if I want to go back to original.

Glad it worked out for you.

As Peter has already mentioned in a previous post, those MX-5s with turbos tend to be much quieter. I did a turbo upgrade to a NA6 a few years ago. I had to drive to an exhaust shop with no exhaust from the down pipe back. I was surprised how quite it was. In fact, with the exhaust pulse (I assume caused by the turbo) it sound very much like a WRX at idle.
