Use the testmode on the ECU to fire them individually (or pairs in this case for wasted spark) and see if they're all firing.

Or get Mrs speed to hold it at a low rpm where it won't stall and unplug each coil one at a time, if the note does not change when you unplug a coil, that's the dicky one :)

Thanks Cus. Mrs Speed went to bed so I used the test option.

Cylinder 1 coil is firing but not firing for every clicking sound like the other 3 coils do.

Guess I'll have to attempt to find some tomorrow as I want to ensure it all runs properly this weekend.

Part no. for mine is 90919-02240
Believe from corolla and yaris.

If anyone has some and is near sydney south, please let me know :)

Replaced all 4 coils today and it still runs rough and sounds like a rotary.
I'm absolutely doing my head in.

The only settings that I've changed in tuner studio is the cranking and maximum dwell.

Was I supposed to change something else?

Part no. for coils is 90919-02240
apparently they are for a toyota yaris. Is that the problem?

Any assistance, comments or suggestions are welcome.

Here's my loom.

Running like a rotary?

What's wrong with that?

I'd give my left testicle to have that brap, brap, brap at traffic lights. Mine did a bit of that but the compression changed all that....or something.....

Ok the rough running thing ok ok.....

The cranking doesn't affect the idle. I inceasesd mine and it went from a wet limp start to a more of a crank ...crank....wrooooom....I also played around with the afterstart enrichments.

What kpa are you I'dling at?
Are you running open loop warm up?
Closed loop?
I also assume you checked calibrated all the settings?

Unfortunately I left my laptop at work
There are some other things I played with can't recall names right now.

But our cars are so different it would probably prove fruitless

Thanks Stan.

Car is not idling at all and didn't think to look at the kpa.

I've not recalibrated anything.
Didn't think I had to. Did alter the dwell/battery adjustment based on a post from braineack on miata.net but that didn't do anything.

The car won't even crank now. Thought flat battery but I see green in the view hole. I'm charging it now anyways.

Coils for cylinder 1 and 4 appear to have weaker spark, even when I swap from cylinders 2 and 3.

I've spayed contact cleaner in the 3 pin connector and used some fine sand paper to clean the pins.

Really not sure what else to do.
Not happy Jan.

It will take 5 minutes out of your day.
May quite well not change anything. What have you got to loose.

Are you running your existing map from before or are you running the base map for a turbo from DIY auto tune?

If it's not starting I'd be going back to back to basics with the ecu & engine

Just put the battery back in.

I'm running same spark map as when supercharged and autotune for fuel.
Was going well with stock coil pack.

Idle features were tuned off and idle screw was all the way in.
I've just turned the screw out 3 and a bit turns and turned the idle valve to be on and off (can't remember what it's called exactly but I'm waiting for the co2 to clear out from the garage)

I've also pulled and cleaned the plugs.
They were all wet and I changed the dwell setting to 2.9

The car now runs but idle is very rough, however it does Rev cleanly.

Will get it out of the garage tomorrow so I can go through the calibrations, play with the idle and see what it drives like.

It doesn't appear to be missing, just running rich.

Afr is 10 or worse at idle.
So it all appears to be tuning.

I'll buy new plugs tomorrow and give them to the tuner when i drop the car off on Tuesday. I'll also take the stock leads and coil pack just in case there is an issue with the cops.

Edit: I have just set the dwell back to 2.5 and idle screw is about 1.5 turns out.

Minutes ago I just realised why my autotune is not working. The o2 wire at the back of the ecu has broken off its solder.

Tomorrow is a new day.

I'm thoroughly embarrassed.

It's okay at least you didn't try and autotune with a narrowband once.... I like to think i've learned alot since that

Interested to see how it goes on the dyno !
