Just repeating what's been said above but just drive it. Basic maintenance and you'll be fine. Don't start changing things until you're at least somewhere near the times a decent driver can do in a stock car.

Thank you everyone for you great responses. I will take them all into consideration before making my next move.
I think for me, it's not about the end goal of racing. I want to be able to build a little project car that I can be proud of - looks and speed wise. I want to use this opportunity to learn more about mods and cars itself.
Time to put away some money every month to start this expensive hobby lol.
Thanks again everyone, not normally you go to a new forum and everyones so friendly and helpful.
