My mate just bought one of these for $300 haha. Already having ignition issues but for the price, what can you expect?

My little list:
89 Magna
94 Swift GTi
03 Magna
02 Jazz (still have)
98 NB8A (still have)

Swift GTi was a great first car (barely drove the Magna on my L's) but unfortunately had been thrashed by two P platers before me so didn't have much life left in the engine. Had to sell it as I was commuting long distance south-north in peak hour Perth highway traffic with no air con in a black manual. Not recommended.

Bargain. They are surprisingly practical.
Boot is much larger than a mx5 and the golf 2.0 goes better then my 1.6 did.

VH Valiant Charger XL - 400 bucks with 9 months rego and a slide back sunroof. Great fun first car back in the day.

S2 12aT rx7 - fast for its time and took it off the dial more than once. Would smash phase 3 gthos.

ZZR 250 - great learner bike for a tall person.

CC Lancer coupe GSR motor etc - one of the best sleepers I've owned. Built motor, suspension, ralliart diff and Evo brakes. Would smash 5.7 worked ute and every gts skyline I ever came across.

BG Astina SP - practical, cool styling in its time and we'll appointed for the money.

Daewoo Cielo. 800 bucks with heaps of rego. Poorly built with old tech but lived in a unit at the time. Muffler rusted off and I drove it for a couple of months without it. Still not stupid loud and the car actually went better. Had lots of fun putting it on its limits (which wasn't hard) whenever I drove it.

63 Mini 850 (still have) - British built meaning no such thing as captive nuts. Will be a super cool car when finished though.

Mk4 Golf Gti - I repaired this from a write off. Chipped, coilovers and we'll optioned. Had kick arse brakes too. Extremely practical and quiet to drive.

NA6 mx5 (still have) - just love looking at it! Looking forward to driving in boosted form.

Mk5 Golf R32 - the best all round daily drive car I've ever had. Could handle any weather or conditions that mother nature could throw at it. Fantastic chassis, brakes and suspension and Geez she'd grip.
Packed with features and just sounded fantastic on full song.

1974 Fiat 128 Coupe (fun but rusty) Totally pulled this thing apart and rebuilt it bolt by bolt, gear by gear, bearing by bearing to see how cars work.
Some sort of green Mitsubishi wagon thing (Sigma 1982 ish)
1986 Opel Kadet Wagon in UK (Drove that thing all over UK and Europe, owned for 10 months, drove 25,000 miles, bought 1200 pounds, sold 1100 pounds)
1995 Lada Niva (It could climb trees when it was running, it liked to rust, Fiat heritage)
1996 Daewoo thing (Opel Kadet rebadged) My only new car purchase, it served a purpose.
1997 Toyota Vienta (still got it, my kids sat in baby capsules in this, now they drive it)
2006 Subaru Liberty (Impulse buy, sold it after 1 month, made $50 profit on it)
2006 Subaru Forester ( the right Subaru, still got it)
2002 MX-5 NB (Still got it, sweet little thing, but lazy, never goes anywhere) Anybody wanna buy it?
2008 Golf GTI (Fantastic Car, sold it after 6 weeks, got worried about the DSG, made $100 profit on it)
1994 MX-5 Clubman with Rotrex SC and engine internals by Bullet Cars (my plaything)

I keep cars for long term or only a few weeks. No middle ground

In order.

02 Honda Canine Recreation Vehicle. Modified with blankets in the rear cargo area for the hounds.
12 BMW 328i, mildy modified
08 BMW 135i, heavily modified. Great car, really enjoyed that one. Almost bought an Audi S3 and happy I got this instead.
06 Subaru WRX, moderately modified. Good car, not great. Cheap interior let it down.
01 Suzuki GSXR600
00 Suzuki SV600S
94 Suzuki GSX250
94 Mazda 626
86 Ford Fairmont Ghia

I never realised Mazda sold a 323 with a 2L V6 in it. What was it like?

This type of 323, a ba astina came out with either a 1.8 I4 or 2.0 v6.
My 323 above had the 4cyl' with a little added spice as shown below.

The v6 astinas get along with a decent amount of torque but working on the engine is horrid as there is no room to get your hands in there and swing a spanner.

Definitely more mundane that everyone else.
Bought a 1980 Datsun Bluebird GL station wagon for $4000 in 1986.
Great car for a teenager and his mates. We could fit eight people in when we were getting about the place.
Used to be referred to as the Weetbix Car because bits used to flake off every now and then and never be seen again.
Traded it in (got $4050) on a mariner blue NA in December 1990.
Have had other cars in the garage but always belonged to my GF or wife (not at the same time).
Nothing of note except for maybe my GF's red 1990 Capri.
We were a much-envied couple in lower-class Woodridge, particularly as my mate who was living with me had a 67 MGB.

I really liked it. It was a pretty smooth in how it went about its business. Although I do remember reading reviews were they critisised Mazda for over complicating things. I really liked that car & that era Mazda in general.

The 1.8 (from the eunos 30x/mx-3) is one of the smallest production v6s of all time. The 1.8L, 2L & 2.5L are all basically identical.

The 2.5L from the mx6/ford probe would have been a sweet engine swap (popular swap among that crowd). The Jap spec model made 200hp at the flywheel. One of our forum members dropped it into his mx5.

While they don't stand out amongst a sea of hatches, own a BA Astina and you'll quickly realise what a fantastic car they are. Sadly finding one that hasn't been dríven into the ground is getting harder and harder.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
