Well.. as of this morning I now have a blue slip!
Spent a lot of yesterday in the heat finishing things off.
Painted the compressor cover, wastegate actuator and bracket black, because stealth. Haha.
Not that I could really hide the turbo and plumbing hanging off the side of the engine.
Fitted a stainless steel thermostat plate as my previous effort was too thin and weeping coolant. This time I used gasket paper to seal it which is working well.
Fitted the timing cover with new bolts and also fitted a new OEM radiator that copies the auto version, having a 28mm core instead of 16mm. I also used new bolts for the fans, as mine were mismatched.
I also picked up my heat shield and air filter joiner from the welder with my 2 fittings and beaded ends.
I then popped into just jap for a black 90 degree 3 inch to 2.5 inch silicone reducer, again for stealth.
Was worried about not passing the blue slip, so secured an unregistered vehicle permit for today.
Then I plumbed in my BOV hose and cut a new length of hose from the catch can to post air filter. Man those lock in hoses really lock in!
Also painted the back of the air filter and a few hose clamps and the heat shield in what colour? Yep, black!
10pm last night I used a mig to weld in a securing nut for the heat shield. It only had to hold until I passed a blue slip.
Will be sure to make/have made a new and much neater solution in the near future.
This morning I took the licence plates off and the sparco out and dropped my stock seat back in.
My wife and I headed off to get a blue slip and I really enjoyed the way the car drove.
I imagine I'll be pretty chuffed once I install the mac valve and pay to have her tuned properly.
Feels great down low (even with just an auto tune) but definitely needs more boost once your going.
At the moment my little 5 is resting after her monumental outing.
Will secure a green slip today and visit the RMS on Monday for proper rego.
I'm already planning what I'll be doing next! Namely suspension, torsen and brakes.
Apologies for the mega post.
I'm just so excited to have finally managed to get to where I am
