After a replacement muffler for an RF...
Want the new RF to sound a bit fruitier. Just looking for an improvement in sound without extensive warranty threatening modding....and without being ridiculously raucous....so just a muffler replacement. Okay with being a bit louder without becoming a cop magnet or pissing off my neighbours every morning.
Suggestions?

Town and country did an exhaust for pcmx5's ND, hopefully he will chime in with how it sounds and exactly what was done.

Re: After a replacement muffler for an RF...
I fitted a Racing Beat sport/Race muffler from Deckspeed. I really like the extra sound that makes the car sound better/sportier, a little bit louder but doesn't annoy me at any cruising speed. Automotive Plus in Qld have a sport twin tip available but I haven't heard of any reports about it. The Goodwin sport mufflers are a more straight through design and appear to be a little too loud for some ears, A few have played around with the goodwin inserts trying to reduce the volume a little. The racing beat added around 2-3Kw on the dyno where as american dyno's have had up to 8Hp out of the Goodwins straight through designs (I guess that is why they are louder).
Eibach Springs, Racing Beat Sport/Race Muffler, Shorai/Arrows Battery Kit, Nielex Knuckle Supports, Advanti 17 x 7 S2's, Hankook 215/45/17 RS3's.

Thanks. You can only determine so much from watching YouTube vids.

I can also vouch for the racing beat muffler CeramicND has. It's sporty without being droney or obnoxious. Allows you to hear the engine rev out where as my standard ND being so quiet, I've accidentally bounced off the rev limiter on occasion

PCMX5 definitely fitted a Town and Country muffler- refer to current sale ad or just PM him for info. Compare prices as well with the other suggestions.

I'm running the HKS Legamax Premium on my ND. It might fit the bill for what you're after. Warmer note that doesn't drone or sound raspy and not too much louder than stock at all. Nice looking bit of kit too.

Re: After a replacement muffler for an RF...
Automotive Plus has two options for the ND....the Road Race (RR) and the Road Sport (RS). Both use the same dual tip.

There are three tip colour options....silver/black/blue.

The Road Race (RR) is $495 incl. GST + freight. 7kgs lighter than OEM muffler.

The Road Sport (RS) is $740 incl. GST + freight. 2kgs lighter than OEM muffler.

Sorry but no video of the RS. The exhaust note is almost the same as the RR, but quieter throughout the rev-range. Best suited to owners looking for an improvement in the exhaust note but with just a mild increase in volume.

Mr.M..I have the T&C on my ND 1.5 which standard sounds much better than the 2.0 so cannot really say how it would sound on a 2.0 .I really like the note under power and its quietness on cruise.Like the the NC version it is a flat on the last 1000 rpms on the over run but great everywhere else. BARWON on here has a Goodwin on his 2.0 and prefers the sound of my car which cost almost 40% less($590 with the $90 black chrome tip or about $530 with basic tip) but again it is comparing a 1.5 to a 2.0.The T&C has a stainless rear muffler but not the overall stainless look of the others but I don't spend a lot of time on my knees looking up at it so couldn't care less!!
I have offered RBH58 the opportunity to fit my system to his car to see if it does work as well on the 2.0(takes 10 mins to fit) so will see what he wants to do. Had a HKS on my one of my NC's and it was great but expensive.
Peter.
.Now ND2 Roadster prev NC2 Recaro's ,BBS wheels,full exhaust, Tiens NA 1.6.NA 1.8 LE(106RWKW)NC1,NC2.ND 1.5 .

Peter. I may take you up on that. It's just being able to arrange a suitable time

Re: After a replacement muffler for an RF...
Old thread but I'm after a rear muffler for FR as well. Videos make it very hard to tell how loud its going to be...
Options are going for a drive to Geelong to visit Town and Country, getting one of the Automotive plus ones or getting a HKS legamax. The HKS looks fantastic but its almost double the price of the others. I don't want stupid loud, just something better than stock when you step on it
Would love to hear any comments from people who have already gone through this process
Cheers

Re: After a replacement muffler for an RF...
Went to Town and Country in Geelong today and had a muffler fitted to my RF. Very happy with the sound and quality of the system/install. Ended up getting twin tips that look fairly similar to stock. The car now sounds much better, deeper note when you step on it but still quite when cruising in 6th.
Great meeting you Peter - thanks for the recommendation.
