Car cover?

I did a search on "cover" and I got cam covers and covering costs, but nothing about a cover for the car :LOL:

So, does anyone have any recommendations? I have my car in the garage, but it's a very old garage, and the Mazda gets more dust and junk on it in the garage than the Magna gets parked in the carport outside.

I'd go an old bed sheet, weighted down. I've owned half a dozen covers in the past and they've all scratched or just billowed around. Plus they weren't cheap. Same performance of a sheet if used in a garage. Used outside is different.

This has been asked before. Many classic car guys get covers tailored for their cars. If you can get one that fits even places like Kmart have cheap and often quite good ones. In Victoria there was a one person business Historic Car Covers in Narre Warren-03 97032604 not sure if still going . I had one made for an NB and it has lasted very well- still in use. I think the material she was using was Tyvec. You can get loops where you like to tie down / around the car. My NB is rarely stored in the garage without a cover except if it's very dirty and a wash is planned.
Sheets are porous and not weather proof.

I got one from Auto Barn about 4 years ago, cost about $130 fully plush lined does not scratch paint. has breather ports with flaps and tie downs on both sides as well elastic bottom , it is water proof as well has been great.

If it's in a garage a bedsheets works great to keep out dust, and avoid rub marks.

Being porous is a benefit as it lets the car air, meaning it won't stink of damp if it a stored for a few weeks.

If it's in a carport, or outdoors, then you're better with a properly made cover.
Just be aware that you'll want the car to be very clean before you put on a cover, since any dirt between paint and cover will act like a rubbing compound.

I use a custom cover all the time in the garage and no sheets sonf have no problems all. A custom made sheet for a little car can be really easy to put on and off but big cars and covers can be a bit of a pain. What I have also found is that covers need to be tied down or have elastic around the perimeter because dust gets under the cover.
