Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
Thanks to all who have entered and paid. It's of great assistance to me to able to tidy up early. I might have one stray payment from Emily... if that's you please let me know who the payment is for.
Entries closing early - this Friday
I am closing entries for this event early, as I have to travel, and will be unable to attend to MX5CQ duties for several days. That means no confirming payments, additions to the running orders, email support etc AT ALL. I might answer phone calls. This will be my first missed event in almost 5 years, so I'm disappointed. But that's life.
If you intend to enter, please do so immediately. To be included I need to have your details and see your payment in the Club Bank Account by 10am Saturday morning. You can still enter on the day but it will cost you $200 cash only, no change given.
Pre-payment is direct to the MX5CQ Bank Account, as shown right. Please use "TD1 Your Name" as a reference. It helps me a lot as I can easily identify who/what the payment is. If you are not a CommBank customer, you will need to do a cash deposit at a CommBank branch in order to meet the deadline. Make sure you get a deposit receipt and send me a photo or scan.
To view the full invite, http://eepurl.com/cv2gMb.
You can enter online using QR's system. https://www.qldraceways.com.au/secure/members/login.php
Don't forget to organise your CTP Insurance Extension: Not mandatory but highly recommended.
On Saturday
I will confirm any new entries, and prepare Groups and initial Running Order, and email, along with any last minute information.
On Monday
Grant Black will be collecting Indemnity Forms and late entries fees on my behalf. Please bring your completed form with you. One is attached.
And...
Please do not rely on www.mx5clubqld.com.au for a few days. We are changing hosts and service may be disrupted. The Forum is not affected. If you have any questions please contact me at 0406 780 808, or just reply to this email.

Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
Hi all, total newbie MX5CQ father and son members, with a just-built turbo NB, coming out to Lakeside for the first time! If you see a young and no-so-young dude in a dark blue car who look like bunnies in the headlights - come over and say hi
Be good to these guys folks. They might be newbies but they're technical. And family! And I won't be there to meet them.

Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
Thanks Magpie. We've been following the story of your crazy monster for a while now, and have been pre-practicing Lakeside by sitting in passenger seat of your Youtube laps! Also watching "Stressbizzle's" laps over and over. It is all the post-apex, off-camber bits of the track that have me worried... Have been waking up in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat, shouting "more opposite lock", and "late apex, late apex"!!
And thanks for the welcome Adam, would be nice if lap times were genetically influenced
Brad.

My Lakeside laps on youtube are very old (21/07/13) ... However I do like to watch Stressbizzle's laps, he is a very good peddler!
Make sure your paperwork in order, car is mechanically sound, drink heaps of water and relax

Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
Don't forget "off camber corners", "guard rails at edge of track" and "bump in the kink" as well as "when you want to brake count to 3 then brake"
What time are you planning on getting there?

Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
We are coming up from just below the border, so leaving plenty of time - planning to get there at least 1 1/2 hrs before the briefing. Was hoping to ask someone about what on earth tyre pressures to start with. If the forecast for 31 holds, I'm guessing it will be very easy for me to over-inflate...

Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
Magpie - running some almost-worn-out Hankook Ventus RS3s. Size 215/40-17. Running MCR purples and the adjustable whiteline swaybars, with both bars set on soft, and all four courners 3 clicks of compression in, as per MCA's recommendation. Thing is, at this stage, we don't even really have any baseline, so any advice appreciated

Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
... and with no baseline, we just chose the "Dual-duty" wheel alignment specs from 949, i.e.:
Front camber -2.5
Caster -6.0
Front total toe = 0mm
Rear camber -2.0
Rear total toe in = 2.5mm
Hoping that is conservative enough so that it doesn't want to exit backwards into the scenery as a default setting!

Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
I run AD08R's (not a R spec) and aim for 34 hot so start at about 28 cold. Previous R Specs (FZ201's) I aimed for about 32 hot.
Pick a starting cold pressure and then adjust as the day progresses. There will be people with air compressors if you need to add some air back in.
Bring a notebook and note hot pressures after run and how the car 'felt'. Also do not forget to note any changes you made. This will be even more important if you have two drivers!
