I won't be running but will call in for a catch up before I drive to Adelaide to pick up race car bits for the new toy.

I'll be there. September to February is too long between Lakeside sessions to pass up. Anybody know anything about the new 'classless' point structure yet?

Now to decide if I put the 'normal' muffler on for Lakeside or the Sandown friendly one.

Re: MX5CQ-TRACK DAY 6 FEB 17
Sorry Guys, I have been scarce lately. I am still working on the Graded Point Scoring System. It is a bit more difficult than I first thought, and it has been doing my head in. But the essence of it is:
It doesn't matter what MX5 "class" you fall into, or even if you use more than one MX5: you will "competing" against drivers setting similar lap times, not driving similar cars.
GRADES
There are no vehicle based classes. There will be grades, based on your FTD for each event/circuit.
The grades will be applied retrospectively to each event, based on PUBLISHED results, something along the lines of:
A Grade: In the top 15% of lap times (you are the fastest)
B Grade: in the next 30% of lap times
C Grade: in the next 30% of lap times
D Grade: in the bottom 25% of lap times
Unless you are the very fastest, or slowest, you won't be sure what grade you have fallen into until after the event. You might be top of B-grade this time, bottom of A-Grade next. It will really depend on your lap time, who else enters, and how fast or slow they go.
POINT SCORING
Points will be awarded according to your ranking within your grade
1st = 40pt; 2nd = 38pt; 3rd =36pt; etc down to 11th or lower = 20pts
For QR or MP where we run two circuits, points for each circuit will be half i.e. 20-10pt.
If you are not an MX5CQ member, and not driving an MX5, you are not scoring any points.
You must be a club member on the day of the event to score points. No retrospective joining-up!
OTHER STUFF
I have almost finished converting last years results to the new point scoring format. Hopefully I can get that published tomorrow night, to show the impact of change.
POINT SCORING FROM OTHER EVENTS
It is possible, but unlikely, that the Champion MX5 driver will achieve that status from MX5CQ events alone. A lot of members are doing other competitive events, and flying the MX5 flag. This year, points will be awarded for other competitive activities for which results are published. There are lots of other CAMS and RACERS events to choose from: Hillclimbs, motorkhana, Dirt sprints, Street sprints etc etc. More about that soon.

Like the proposed new scoring system as it is more about the driver.
Looking forward to hearing how the Non club events will be included... Does attendance at Sandown count

Sandown?
Was it competition?
Were results published?
If the answer to both question is YES, then send me the results (or link to) for verification.

Hi all, total newbie MX5CQ father and son members, with a just-built turbo NB, coming out to Lakeside for the first time! If you see a young and no-so-young dude in a dark blue car who look like bunnies in the headlights - come over and say hi
