15x8 Steelies (unknown offset) with 185/55-15 Tyres = 18.1 kgs.

I just picked up some 14x7 +19 RPF1. 3.9kg

I'm a broken record but those RPF1s are perfect for the NA (maybe it has something to do with them being designed for the NA). The dish and flat spokes look awesome and they are super light to boot. And cheap, about $1.3k brand new I think. Doesn't get much better than that .

RRP is about $1200 - $1300 in Australia + shipping to what ever city you're in. I picked mine up from the US for $1150 to my door.

Hmm. I weighed the Flatouts yesterday with the A050s fitted and they were 14.7kg!
So A050s are much lighter than NT01s.

Advanti S2 (17 x 7) with Hankook RS3 (215/45/17, about 1/3 to 1/2 worn) - 16.6 Kg

Thanks for this, I was wondering what the stock wheel and rubber weighed for the ND.

Problem I have is finding a wheel that I like the look of as much as the stock one! Plenty lighter, but this is just one good looking bit of metal IMO.

Hi
When I bought my first MX5 NA8 I rushed out and bought a set of 15x7's,a while later I had them painted and put the std wheels and
tyres on so I could keep it on the road. It was a FAR better car with the std wheels ,rode, handled and responded better

I don't think that there's any question that the best wheels for a road-going NA8 are the ones that Mazda put on them in the first place. The real problem now is that you cannot buy the best tyres for the best wheels because they don't make them in that size any more. You're just left with a choice of basic tyres sold for econoboxes where low cost and low wear rates, not suppleness and performance, are the only criteria. That's why we all move to 15s, hunting for ones as light as the originals.

Then Mazda, years later, went to alloy 15x6 on pretty much the same car. So it makes sense to get standard NB8A alloy wheels and have access to a good range of high performance tyres.
