Ah that sucks, what size oil feed are you using, maybe it was supplying too much oil causing the oil to blow out through the seals.

I'm not sure on the actual size but it does screw into the stock t25 fitting.

Re the T28. I need to drill out the flange to accept the larger studs from my manifold.
Also need to drill another 2 holes in the stainless steel bracket to correctly position the T28's wastegate actuator bracket.

That's also going to suck!

I really just wanted to connect the Wideband and run a autotune but not with a leaking turbo :/

Re the clearance of the T28 and the rail, I have a couple of mm at best.
I'm going to cut and bend the overlapping flap. I'm only removing 1 or 2 spot welds at worst and will re weld prior to engineering.

Turbo flange drilled and I also cut down the 2 longer manifold studs to enable fitment without cutting the rail flap.

Seems I have about 3mm clearance between the compressor cover and the rail flap.

I may even be able to trim a bit and still leave the spot weld.

Turbo bag and heat shield over the lot.

I've swapped over some bits from the t25, trimmed the flap and re drilled the wastegate actuator bracket.

Need a drink but getting there..
Hope to have it all bolted up today.

Tomorrow I'll be putting the dump pipe back on and screwing in the Wideband.

Then, hopefully start her up and crossing fingers

T28 all fitted up.

The lower 2 studs for dump pipe have gone from being too long to too short. Bugger!

Seems to be quieter though.

You were right. Drain pipe fitting was blocked!
Was the last thing I took off the t25 as I was switching parts across.

Any chance my T25 is still okay?

I ran the car for about a minute and a half, mostly at idle and a few light squirts but no more than 2500 rpm.

Providing there was oil in the turbo (given the smoke I would say that's a yes) such a short run probably didn't hurt it. :wink:

Depends whether the T25 is preferable to the T28 for some reason, if so then it's probably worth the time to swap them back and test.
You need to remove the T28 anyway to replace the lower studs for longer ones so.......

Definitely oil in the turbo.
Feed was working but not draining.
Was worried about the seals.

I like to think of today's exercise as future proofing for the t28

Is also a lot easier to get both turbos on and off with the shorter manifold studs and flap cut down.

Don't need to remove the turbo, just the dump pipe. It's the lower 2 studs where the dump pipe bolts onto that are now too short.
