So being a bit late to look into this due to general busy and because I'm already on another road trip... Is there any possibility that one can still sign the millionth car at this late stage by registering or just turning up?

Definitely don't just turn up, you won't be allowed in.

Even without a car you wont get in the gate. Its invite only, but you probably still have time to register via link above to get an invite...

Lots of people are coming from interstate without their car. It's fine as long as your register. Tis getting a bit late though...

I just noticed on the email Mazda Australia sent to me as a registered attendee, that you could use the email address on that web page for registering additional guests, but it had to be before 10am Monday 16 January.

So you may be too late. But it won't hurt to ask.

The information below will be handed out tomorrow at the track, but you lucky forumites get a preview. There has been a ton of meetings, discussion and planning around how to manage this many cars from the parking area out onto the track and back again. This is how it will play out:

Parade Lap Information Sheet
There will be over 650 cars participating in the parade lap. This will be a fun opportunity to take part in the largest gathering of Mazda MX-5’s on track in Australia.
However, getting this number of cars on and off the track will be a challenge and we are confident we can do it, with your help.

Disclaimer Form:
• You must have completed your disclaimer form before you can enter the track.
• Passengers are allowed. Only the driver needs to complete the disclaimer form.
• You will hand your disclaimer form to an EVENT OFFICIAL when you are directed to leave the car park area, go up the pit lane ramp, turn right and enter track.
• If you have not completed the form you will asked to move to the side until you have completed one.

Entering the track:
• Cars will be lead out by a safety car. You must not pass the safety car or any cars in front. Stay in line.
• Ensure that you follow the instructions of the EVENT OFFICIALS. They will direct you when to start moving from the car park to head up to pit lane exit/track entry. Do not jump the gun, as this will slow the process down.
• You will be entering pit lane from the Southern (Grandstand) End of the car park.
• You will enter the track in single file.

On track:
• Once on the track proceed at safe pace, no speeding, with cars to de-zipper and form in pairs side by side as they proceed around the track behind safety cars.
• Safely close gap to the cars in front as much and as SAFE as possible.
• Do not 'sandbag' i.e. leave a gap to the car in front and then speed up to close it up.
• Maintain a consistent and safe speed to the car in front.
• Be aware that the cars in front of you may stop with little notice, remain alert to stopping cars in front.

Main Straight:
• We will be stopping all cars on the main straight to allow for a photo opportunity.
• Cars will be stopped on the second to last turn (turn 12) before the front straight until all cars
are on the track and lined up. This will take up to 15 minutes depending where you are on the
track. Please do not get out the car.
• The MX-5 Champion Cars will form 4 lines which parade cars will follow behind.
• Cars will form into rows of four across the track. A de-zippering style formation to be made.
Slow down and beware of the direction of movement of the car in front. If unsure, STOP.
• Once assembled, the Parade of cars will move to the end of the front straight, stopping just
before Turn 1. Please remain in your car whilst stopped on the main straight.
• Marshals on the track will direct you to the correct position.
• Once the cars move off again, cars are to form again into pairs.

Exiting the track:
• Exit from the track will be at the Northern end of the straight.
• Exiting will be in a zipper style, merging into a single line.
Do not go onto pit lane. Proceed out to paddock.
• On exiting the track, follow the directions of the EVENT OFFICIAL to park your car.
• If you intend to head straight home after the parade lap, you will be able to exit Sandown Park
through Gate 5E. Signal your intention to EVENT OFFICIALS by raising your hand and
proceeding to Gate 5E.
• For cars not departing the track, turn left and proceed south along the red garages and EVENT
OFFICIALS will direct you to park.
