I would strongly recommend keeping the plastic undertray in tact - although it might work for Daffy, it is generally accepted that removing the undertray will hurt airflow through the radiator and compromise cooling.

A stock street car with a stock good condition cooling system will be fine on the street. On the track, especially if you have A/C, you may start to push the limits of the stock cooling system, even with an otherwise stock car.

Yea was planing on keeping it on, I've hear a lot of good thing about the effectiveness of the undertray. My car does have AC (not currently working ahah) besides the thicker code of the se is there something else I could do to help cooling the engine.

The two big things would be:

1. Coolant re-route
2. Ducting air to the radiator

The link to the miataturbo cooling thread will explain why the re-route is needed. Installing a re-route can be a bit of a pain with the engine in the car.

Probably the best 'bang for you buck' thing you can do is ducting air through the nose, sealing off all of the spaces where the air can go around or under the radiator. You'll need to fabricate this yourself, but search around this forum and at miataturbo.net, plenty of good examples for inspiration.

If it's just a street car I would suggest just keeping the cooling system stock but in good condition and it should be fine. You'll need to replace the radiator soon and you can probably get a larger/more efficient rad than stock for about the same price or only a little more, so it makes sense to do that.

I can't recomend a reroute on an otherwise stock car.
It's a bugger to get in and can be hard to route the super long top rad hose.

Go with the SE rad, stock undertray and never worry about it

Big core rad and reroute on a stock car (like me) leads to a tiny engine with a whole lot of coolant to warm up.

So basically what pepe said.

No worries, se rad it is, silicon hoes kit and new thermostat is what I'm gonna do for now. Thanks guys for all your input

Not sure how you're going to go fitting an SE radiator, designed for an NB, to your NA.....
While they both use the BP engine, I believe the NA had different mounting points, so you may need to do some careful measuring and fabrication work.

The good news is that the SE radiator has the same size top and bottom tanks, it's just the core that went from 16mm to 27mm.

My bad too for forgetting to mention that we had the water pump/cooled water re routed to the rear of the block as well a "chimney vents" put in to assist with the cooling- ps great link pepejesus, much food for thought for future track days!

Croooober is awesome, can buy parts from venders such as up garage in Japan and other venders, they don't charge a lot of the fees that other places like buyer charge all they charge is item cost and shipping. So I found to be a lot cheaper then most places.

Only thing is they don't have a big selection of parts like yahoo auctions have.

Nothing really that special, reads up to 180kms instead of 220 as the aus specs are, mainly got it so I could change faces and do a bit of custom work

Well it seems like the jap spec na6 had the little Demister light as well. The one I bought has one and it was advertised as a Na6c one.
