Hi all,
I'm doing a bit of upgrading on the NC after an engine bearing went and finding a few issues with some 'fixes' from previous owners in the process. I'm hoping there might be some people who can answer some questions about some of these eccentricities in the car and possible fixes?
Underbody plastic part no/pricing/buying?
So, I have no idea how this happened, but the plastic underbody is in pieces and is cable tied in place like a sketchy suspension bridge. Is there a part number for this piece of plastic or is this something I'll have to find from a wreckers?
(it actually gets worse when you're under the car, about 30% of it is missing)
Front bumper bar
The plastic lower part of the front bumper is cracked badly and deformed due to cut springs and worn shocks so it's very low and not incline friendly (now being swapped for Ohlins) Two questions about this issue are, can I replace the plastic separate to the bumper? and is the Mazdaspeed badge something else previous owners have added or would I be butchering something further by removing it?
Strut brace
The car came with an Eibach strut brace, is this worth keeping with Ohlins and a 2.5 swap? (I've read some mixed reports about strut braces not fitting with the 2.5 so I'm not sure)
Front windscreen plastic cowl on passenger side
This has been drilled out to mount a GPS antenna for a previous head unit which means my footwells become very wet in the rain, is this a readily available mazda part or something I should seek from a wrecker?
Windscreen surround
Someone has sanded the surround of the windscreen paintwork for an unknown reason, maybe removing a chrome windscreen surround? Any very rough idea of the cost of repainting it in Winning blue that doesn't involve the length of a piece of string?
The same case for the third brake light which looks like someone applied hammer tone paint to it or strong acid had eaten away the casing and then repainted it, I'm still trying to decide whether to replace the whole thing or just get it repaired and sprayed.
There's probably going to be more as I pull the car apart more, but I appreciate any guidance with these problems so far. I did get the car for a reasonable price and bought it in the rain (never again) so it's no problem to spend a bit of money to bring the NC back to life and to a nice condition.

Re: Trying to restore an NC (weird I know!)
You are going to buy these things if not repairable from Mazda. If you go to the Mazda Spare parts they will give you the part nbrs and the prices for your model. Then you decide what next. If you buy from O/s bear in mind long light parts dont just get charged on weight so freight cost is required i.e. what does it cost to your door step. Plastic parts will not be painted. No reason that you should not restore or improve your car.. PS it common for underbody parts to get scratched and broken in a low slung car. People drive over kerbs in car parks etc.

Shoot a msg to Boyracer, he may be able to help with parts, the underbody cowl has been damaged by parking over kerbs. Do not worry about the strut brace unless you want an upgrade, it is the stock item (stcker enhanced). Paint the screen trim black.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

That ain't a eibach strut brace. That's the Orem unit and fine for what you want to do with it.
You should be able to pick up a stone guard second hand from wreckers, or a fellow forumite.
The bumper is all one piece, so you won't be able to remove the black lower trim, as for the mazdaspeed badge I'd assume it's just stuck on with double sided tape. The badge is just off eBay.

Yeah, try Boyracer - if he can't assist, try emailing Chris at MX5 Racing - they used to part out some used NC bits from time to time: ozcooperATprimusDOTcomDOTau
