Fitting MBC to SE

Postby wasp47 » Mon Jan 09, 2017 12:18 pm

Please don't throw rocks at me. :?
I am looking for assistance in fitting a MBC to my newly acquired SE.
I found some links to Mazdaspeed however the site is shut down ,
Can anyone please give me step by step instructions or a link. I am an old fart, give me a Holley and dizzy and I am in heaven. I have a BEGI cai on order.
Cheers
Steven

http://www.mazda-speed.com/forum2/ is now a read only site, so any correctly formatted links are still readable, you just can't post. If a link isn't working (ie readable) then it may be because it's an old link for which the format has changed. This can be overcome by cutting & pasting the old link into the new format. Btw, there's a SE MBC install thread on here: viewtopic.php?t=61091

UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Before fitting a MBC i'd go:

valve in the oil line from the oil/air sepperator to the sump (it's so cheap if it doesn't make a difference then meh)
exhaust
intake
throttle body elbow / bov combo

At this point if you drive it hard you'll probably get a hesitation reving it out in 5th

If you're driving it that hard then you'll probably want to upgrade the stock brake pads

then a bigger/better intercooler

then do your boost control when you install and aftermarket ecu and get it tuned

At this point your SE will be a bag load of fun and not embarrass itself against stock NCs and SPs.

After this, then you have to consider making the engine stronger (forgies etc), a decent turbo and manifold and bigger injectors.

Once you reach that point then the stock clutch won't handle the power and potentially a long list of expensive upgrades that make your MX-5 a weapon.

(SE owners happy to be corrected if I forgot something)
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
