Re: Speed's boosted NA6
Yay for 4-day weekends!
I started fixing my window this morning, got as far as 30-something in the sun, took the window out, took the roof off, and wrapped tinsel around the roll bar.... Job's done!
I suspect that's all of the work I'll get done this weekend lol

Then there is this thing.
She's a fat bugger at 52mm.
Now I have to find the rolls of foam adhesive I purchased and sort out the fans so I can mount them flush to the radiator.

Re: Speed's boosted NA6
Before I get to the fans, I figured I'd do some easy stuff to make me feel more productive. Well, maybe after a few drinks
My engine bay is now collecting aluminum. I've also managed the nitrodann trifecta.

Will the catch can fit between the turbo and chassis? I know the gap isn't huge...

Bit of foam in front of radiator, along the top edge.

If memory serves me correctly we compared notes and made sure it would fit right.

Dann repositioned the drain tap for me. I'll take a pic for you. Clearance is close.

Lucass,
These pics show the clearance.
Sorry they're a bit dark.

Dann
I somehow missed this post. I must of posted at the same time.
You're right, I sent you a pic with a tape measure in the spot and you figured out where to reposition the tap. Fits perfect!
Edit: All the other turbo manifolds I've seen have much more clearance and mount the turbo further forward.

Will you be water-cooling the turbo?

I'm not sure yet. I do have oil and turbo lines from the previous owner of the turbo kit but am yet to research the merits of the water cooling.
I remember a post from Dann in another thread saying not to bother but don't recall the reasoning behind it.

Mine wasn't, to quote Dan, 'I've never heard someone say that their track day was ruined because of a lack of water cooling, but how many people do you hear about stuck after a turbo water feed/return gave up?'
Is that an FM or Begi manifold? I know you've probably mentioned already but I must be missing it.

Thanks, I thought that would be the reason but wasn't sure.
BEGI manifold, I may not have mentioned it.

Re: Speed's boosted NA6
I've now replaced my coolant hoses with a mania hose kit I bought a while back.
To clear the turbo inlet, I reversed the lower hose on the engine side and trimmed both ends.
I'll probably make a plate to bolt the hard line to the factory mounts, just because.
I also mocked up a new wastegate actuator out of cardboard and then traced it onto a piece of stainless steel that I had laying around.
Managed the cut the general shape of it and drill the holes, except for the 63mm hole!
I just don't have a good enough saw to complete the job so will have to outsource it
Once I get the big hole cut, I'll trim and round the edges then bend it to shape and make up some reinforcement for the sides.
