My loving wife bought me a remote central locking kit for xmas, and gave it to me early. Yay!

However, before I install I'd like some help. This is the install guide:
I'll need to make a 2.5 meter harness to go from the secondary unit to the main door actuator. It'll have to go through the engine bay, back through the right fender and into the door panel.
I've already found the constant under the dash, so that should be fine.
My big question is how to make the lights blink. The purple wire in the diagram is for that. Should I connect it to the hazard light wire, will it work?

Following might help:
Step 3: Connect actuator:
'Remove the two Phillips screws holding the panel below the steering column and remove the panel. Attached to the column, is a large black connector. Locate the light green wire coming out of this connector and connect the yellow lead from the keyless control unit to it. That's it. Your parking lights and your instrument lights will now flash twice whenever the control unit receives a signal from the remote'.
