ok guys time for another update.

i received new my new badges. should going on soon but heres a pic of them.

not for the better part of this update. i bought a rear lip from mx5 mania installed it. came with hardware and everything and much easier to install then the front lip. The rear bumper has little dots on it showing where the holes line up. i didnt know this and when i put the lip on to measure. i saw that every hole lined up with these little marking on the bumper. this made it really easy to line up and drill holes

after that it was pretty straight bolted on all i did was take it out of the garage to admire

ahah yes i know its grown on me at this height but i do plan on lowering it later in the build

A subtle drop is all that's needed imo. Very nice restoration build. Really love the attention to detail and effort taken to do it 'right'.

Thanks for the detail on the rear lip.

I'd like to fit one to my NA6 but I've heard that they don't work with rear mudflaps without modification. Are you planning on fitting flaps?

Yea I will be fitting flaps, I will be modifying the flags to go around the lip as the lip is a bit more expensive. Should have the flaps soon.

Ok a bit of an update since theres nothing to post atm, will have something up soon.

ive got my mud flaps there are used and not in the best condition so im gonna sand them back down to the black plastic, make them all smooth, modifiy them to fit rear lip then see if i wanna keep them black or spray them red again.

will have a few parts soon coming in hopful they do soon

ok so update, i finally got around to putting my heat shield back on the car, got new nuts and bolts to hold it on too, makes it look alot better with that freshen up, might go ahead and do that to the intake side as well once i get new gaskets and stuff like that. rocker cover i do plan on giving it a polish to bring out the nice chrome look as well.

heres how it looked with the heat shield on.

i did also bag myself a good condition mazdaspeed front strut brace

tired to put them on but realised that the mounts were reversed, a quick swap around and i had it on, i think it makes it look mint

i decided to also move the diagnoses port down a bit and give the car a bit more of a cleaner look around the strut towers.

Ok so havent got much to work on the 5, but today got some small things done.

decided to try and restore the strut brace to a mirror finish. it was a bit tired and i got some metal polish and started working.

i got a wool drill bit attachment and some brasso and did a few runs with this combo and it came out great.

heres a pic of half done and half not. if you look at the pics above you will be able to tell a difference.

also decided to see if this would work on the engine cover so did a bit of sanding and then polished it and it came out looking awesome. will be doing the full engine cover at a later date but this process worked great.

this was done with very little sanding and i think will come out alot better when i get more sandpaper and higher grits.

What grit paper did you use and what does the wool drill attachment look like?

only hard 400 and 600 grit laying around, im gonna get more and get it all sanded down.

i also used a this other brush attachment that helped prep it. but the wool ones give it its shine.

Looking good lolmx5! I'm taking notes..... under bonnet in mine right now is looking dull after all the all the recent work and it sure does need some sprucing up!!!
