I think for me this is what i'd call a pretty safe colour. about 15 years back I had a bmw e36 in hellrot and really liked the colour. to cut a long story short the wife and I were in Bathurst with a jumping castle hire and drove past the car with the for sale sign on it.

the colour and the bbs wheels caught my attention so I spun round and went back and the rest is history.

it's taken a fair bit of work to drop the SE to the skeleton look and I figured if I don't pick the correct colour I could be painting and stripping it all over again within a few months time

I am happy now with the choice of the paint so all I have to do is wait for the rain to stop and conditions to improve temperature wise and hopefully do a better job than I did on the white spray. I feel confident so I think I can  but like always time will tell

forgot to mention I have spent a lot of hours wet sanding and cleaning up the body of this car which is the key to a good job. ive actually put more time into it than when it was originally sprayed the artic white.

to do the paint job I have a better quality gun than before. sure its the $90 supercheap one I got for $55 but it's a good gun and works well. I always said when I got it i'd like to do a re-spray and see how good it is ........well i'm here now

so I have the better gun, I purchased quality paint -that 4 litres of red was $355 alone. better quality clear to go on top and running premium thinners. so all good stuff to do the job.

so I am 100% happy with the preparation and material so after that you can only blame the user

Given all that work it sounds like your back has improved significantly, which is good to hear, & definitely well worth the repaint.

the back pain is still there but I don't feel it. the daughter told me a couple weeks ago about this be active knee brace she saw on tv. I watched a few you tube videos and reports were pretty good. bought one on ebay for $16

all I know it blocks pain from the sciatic nerve and does the job well or I wouldn't be doing all this work on the car. at night when I take it off I can feel the pain return. so money well spent

today it was raining all day so just did a clean up on the underside of the boot lid

although it was a bit cold to try this I decided to give it a go anyway. the right side leather seat was looking a bit worn and ratty. I used a bit of the vht matte black vinyl dye to cover it over with 3 light coats at 10 minute intervals.

considering conditions weren't ideal I thought it did a pretty good job. I will go back a try this out more on a better day. overall I am happy with the end result

The seat looks good. Would the Vinyl dye work on the steering wheel?

hard to say as that would be a heavy load area. I will check out the cars tomorrow and see if there is any which could handle a spray :)

Great that it allows mobilisation, blocks pain & lets you do things!
