Could the community please stop using Photobucket?

Postby captaincabinets » Sun Dec 04, 2016 1:58 pm

As a new 2016 member of the forum I'm pretty sick of seeing this goddamn kitten:

And this is from someone who actually likes cats, but I don't come here to see them. Can we please switch to an image hoster (e.g. Imgur) that doesn't delete your photos after seemingly two weeks.

Thanks

The problem isn't strictly photobuckets fault. People move photos around in the bucket and break the links (or they delete their photos!). What would be nice is if photobucket was able to intelligently maintain links when you move stuff around.

Imgur is awesome and so easy to use. Completely free as well.
Photobucket killed all my links when I refused pay for a subscription.

I have used the bucket since 2009, I don't have a sub, and none of my photos links have ever broken.
That being said, photobucket may not be as easy or as pleasant to use as other providers, and the bucket does have way more ads and crap than it used to.

I've been using Flickr and it seems to work ok.

Photobucket is the only one not blocked by the work firewall for me. I generally don't get on here at home, just between busy times at work.

Imgur and flicker both give me nothing but X's in the majority of posts.

Interesting, Rolley. Hopefully everyone in your boat can see what I post.

PS. You still owe me pictures of the War Birds :)

You will be the first to know when I get to fit them!
They are currently living in the top drawer of the tool box, waiting for me to finish the doorcards. They are the motivation for me to hurry up.

For me to see your garage thread I have to go onto my phone or actually turn on the PC at home. It's all there, just blocked by the work firewall which is odd because PB is far more buggy and pop-up riddled than imgur or flicker...

Not applicable to more recent image postings, but we did lose all forum locally hosted images back in late 2014 / early 2015 due to forum issues.

Yeah i must have moved some links on my Photobucket account because half the images on my thread were killed...I use photobucket because most of the pics are there and its easier to keep them all in one place but im looking at moving to Imgur...just hope Photobucket dont kill my account down the track

Ditto, except I think I've been using since 2007.

Ads suck but it's easy to use and the app is pretty good (except on iPad where you have to use the phone app).

Imgur is life. Let's be real for a second. All the cool kids are using it.

I'm in trouble. I've been using DropBox for all my images for a few years. I just received an email from them advising that they'll turn off the public folder service soon. So access to every image and file that I've posted here will soon be blocked.
