RSR's (old) vs RE003

I'm after a second set of tyres but am reluctant to get the new RSRR's. They are too noisy. I am very happy with the previous RSR's but they're no longer being made

.

Has anybody got a direct comparison between the RSR and RE003? I'd expect the RSR with a rating of 140 to stick better than the RE003 with 220 but is that the case or is the difference too little to notice. I don't care about the mileage as long as I get 10 to 20k.

This is like comparing a CT110 to a CR250

I have a set of RE003's in 205/45/16 as set of wet tyres and also use them for Marulan training days.
I'm only 0.5s a lap slower on them then 20mm wider 225/45/15 Hankook RS3's. And I'm pretty sure that RS3's would be on par with RSR's.

RE003's are the quietest tyre I have ever had on my MX-5 including original Toyo's.

When you get them for the 4 for 3 offer, you can't really go wrong.

I couldn't wear out my last set of 002's in four years so last month ditched them. I had been happy so went in to get some 003's . Was talked into hankook Rs-3 semi slicks for the same price. Glad I was - for me they are quieter, smoother and really grip (haven't tried wet). Don't care that they may last 10,000 k's. I suppose any new tyre would be better than old half worn tyres though. I run 195 50 15's.

I bought a set of RSRs just before Christmas and they are dead fresh. 4216 made, so they must still be making them (at least in 16"). They are 205-45-16 and I got them from St George in Arncliffe $150 a corner fitted.
