It's so WAY over the top isn't it. Truly impressive.
Sadly I didn't attend WTAC this year, but the live stream is really good.
The diffuser/underbody on the S15 has been like that for about 2 years now I think, as I did get to see it in person a few years ago.

andrew brilliant has claimed that under suzuki's s15 is the highest downforce car in the history of humanity. i referenced an old school under body style car that had over 10k pounds of downforce and he said yes i have taken that car into account and under's has more.

I did not know that, I am impressed. The scary thing about that is, it really is so much of an unknown, people just don't really know what else they need to do to a car to support all this mystical aero stuff. Sure engineers can use their brains and fancy mathematics, but, real world testing always brings out surprises. And these cars are next level.

It will be my pleasure to let you know how corner weights when it is weighed. I would be happy with 950kg as a start.

I'd be surprised if you don't hit 950kg. My Integra is 950kg and not as stripped out as your car!

Added weight of the roll cage.... and front, underbody and rear aero.... it hurts.

Yes, I have a 6 point cage, splitter, rear diffuser, wing etc...and it still has the heavy glass on the rear hatch (albeit carbon)

What times does it do?

I drove a DC5 type R and it was pretty damn fast, though I think at the time it was a $20k car with another $20k of honda fanboy mods.

Sometimes I hate doing this stuff

So some idiot cut a bunch of holes in my car and now I have to fill them back up.
So... bust out some CAD. I think the pictures say it all here.

The side sections need a slight kink about 3/4ths of the way along.

The sides will be mounted permanently, the middle section however will be bolted in for removal to make for easy access to... stuff?

The middle section has a kick up at the rear to meet the rear of the boot.

The carboard templates will be replaced with fibreglass panels weighing about 1/8th of the steel it replaces.

Oh by the way, take it from me, safety should always come first... my index finger had a close call with the grinder cutoff wheel because of the awkward cutting that was necessary.... so please always take care!

I've done 1:11 at Wakefield but Benny Tran has done high 1:09 with a passenger, running AD08Rs. Stock engine with intake, header, exhaust and Hondata ECU.

Yeah watch those grinders. I trimmed my middle finger shorter by a bit a month ago. I was wearing gloves but the wheel grabbed them and pulled my finger in to the blade.

I'm following your thread closely. I'm not sure I want to totally hack up my car yet but this is along the lines of what I was thinking. It will depend on how fast my competition is next year. Might have to do a tubular front end with a gutted rear

Hi, this is me.
It had intake + JDM intake manifold, headers, exhaust and a tune. 143kw atw at 1160kg. It felt fast because the gearing allowed it to stay in it's power band (vtec yo).

I have a standard dc5r.
It is fast... compared to the mx5. I think it was a bit faster than my housemates 86 as well - mostly due to the dip in power the 86 have around 3-4k. Every time i drive it, i really just want to put the engine in the mx5...

My car is 980kg with a cage and standard hardtop and i think 3/4 tank of fuel, so i would assume you could comfortable get 950kg. Although i'm not sure how much weight the aero/ducting etc will add... and turbo's aren't exactly light either...

Mine is 920kg without me. Thats with a full cage and interior. As with plohl, I don't have a turbo and all the guff that goes with it either. Also no chassis bracing, small radiator, alternator, battery etc etc. I think I'll be able to get it under 900kgs with a bit of work.

Likewise. One of us will do the tube front end - bets on who does it first?!

There's clearly a weight penalty by running the NB over the NA. For reference, this car was about 970kg without driver in the previous sans-turbo setup.

My old setup (wing, splitter, flat floor) would have added a good 30 or more kilos I reckon, it all eventually added up. But it also made it a very capable car.
