I think I've been a bit off track with my ideas on the new paint job. unless I had a totally original SE in all areas paint and running gear I cant see how it would ever be worth a $$$ long term.

in actually fact very few Japanese cars have made it. well I had a Honda s600 -that was collectable but not as good as the s800.i also had the Datsun 2000 sports too but again high screen so not as good as the low screen model.

in actually fact if I had a garage full of Japanese collectables it would go as such and I am only going on actual cars I sat in when new - mazda r100 - Datsun 240z - Honda s800 - Datsun 2000 sports low screen...all late 60's /early 70's and well under or about $3000 when new.

out of those 4 id pick the mazda r100 as it was well ahead of its time with the rotary motor and the way out drivers cockpit and overhead console. although the Datsun 2000 is a close one. a 200 kph 2 litre in 69 was faster than a 6 pot and equal to a ford V8.

but in general collectable car are the ones in original unrestored and unmolested condition - mine has been heavily molested  so I don't think it will ever make much difference what I do to it...........I just have a 300rwhp SE and will have to settle for that side of the ownership

but what I can do is after 6 odd years of the artic white give it a change of colour and I think the contender are or could be

1. two tone silver/titanium
2. the dark horse colour - possibly lava orange
3. titanium

I vote #2. You can have a second poll for the colour later maybe.

fine  late today I decided I would do a test run across the front bar so I already have the sunlight silver in stock so its on - will see if I can get the lava orange and titanium tomorrow and do a tri-colour bar and clear coat it

that way I will have a better idea on which colour I like and looks good to go and I don't end up buying 4 litres of useless paint

I managed to drop the 3 colours on the front bar today. not ideal condition to paint in either actually pretty windy but its only a test run and pretty good for that.

out of the 3 cans of pressure pack paint the titanium was the easiest to spray and the lava orange the worst  I don't know why because all cans were the same brand -same place. the top clear was from my spray gun and it was easier than the lot combined  and way quicker too!

I also think lava orange could be a problem getting the colour right. I asked for lava orange and gave them the usa code 27y but the code came back as passion orange. this may or may not be the same colour.

just waiting now for the clear to harden a bit and I will hit it with some stray 1200 wet and dry I have and a quick cut and see if it improves........so far I think titanium is the go

Ford focus electric orange would look better than the lava but I'm biased as that's the colour I chose for my mini :)

It might be the lighting/wetness, but those look too dark for the colours they're supposed to me :?
