Victorian MX5 owners, I can now include engineering !

Postby NitroDann » Thu Nov 17, 2016 12:25 pm

Hi,

I can now have victorian customers vehicles engineered as part of my turbocharger conversion service.

Ive opened this thread in order to allow people to ask any questions that they see fit.

Thankyou,
Dann

For those wondering, Ive had talks with both my local engineer, and engineers local to melbourne, and overall its been a great success !

Sounds positive Dann!

If the process can be streamlined so that minimal work or stuffing around is required once back in Vic then i think you are going to be busy!

I assume:
*Car goes to you for work - your engineer works with a Vic Roads registered one so when it comes back to Vic its a simple check over??
*Car is booked in for emissions test
*car gets VASS

Any idea on rough costs for this process? If you are handling 99% of the process for the customer then the risk factor goes out the window

I hope so

Absolutely, I will send you to the right person, they will check all of my work and all of my documentation, and they will provide you with the certification paperwork to present to vicroads. The process will be identical to those who I do a drive in drive out service for in NSW, except that Victorians will need to additionally drive the vehicle to the victorian compliance business and have the final A-OK given. Because I am in NSW as is my local engineer I typically include the "drive it to him and show him" service with the engineering service. Not so easy if you need the local guy to check it and I am in Newcastle.

*Car is booked in for emissions test

No I will provide all paperwork directly to the complier in Vic, the customer will simply have to pay me for the service, and drive the car to show the local engineer who will provide the correct victorian paperwork for vicroads.

*car gets VASS

Yes.

At this stage Id say it will come in at around $1000 extra compared to a NSW customer. So in other words, if you had a conversion with clutch, exhaust, rollbar and cooling system fitted by me here in my workshop, and also had it engineered, and the total bill for the customer would be, say $10,000 then it would be 11,000 for a victorian customer.

Simple as that.
