Looking for options for a rollbar for a nc.
Car used as a weekend toy.and for occasional motorsport. (No, i dont want a full cage)
Must suit a softop AND a removeable hardtop.
The only options i can find is the harddog sport m3 which is going to be big $ landed in aus.
Any ideas welcome.
Let me know what you have done or other options???
Cheers

Re: Rollbar for nc, ideas??
I'm pretty sure Davis brown in Victoria make a 6 point roll bar ( the 2 rear facing supports are remove able for soft top use on the road and attached for top up track use). It is CAMS approved. Their website is pretty useless so you may have to ring them. Around $1900 I think.

Re: Rollbar for nc, ideas??
The BD bar is a four point - a 'half cage', ie a hoop with two backstays.
I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Re: Rollbar for nc, ideas??
Thanks for the replies.
I tried mx5 parts as the distributer for goodwin in aus, i thought they may have access to harddog, they refered me straight to brown davis (and thanks for the super fast reply chris from mx5 parts).
Looking at BD it seems they do a bar with removable rear stays (great idea) but wont work with a softtop AND a removeable hardtop. I called them, waiting on a call back. Hopefully they do a version without the removeable stays.
AGI? Havnt called them, great idea. I had a AGI bar on a NA, loved it. They dont advertise a NC bar but one thing i am finding out is a lot of these businessess are in the business of manufacturing, not updating websites!
Keen to hear from anyone who has fitted/imported a bar.

Re: Rollbar for nc, ideas??
As an update...
Agi don't do a NC bar, but adam was very helpful and its something they may look at now nc prices are coming down and more are getting tracked.
Brown Davis do the CAMS compliant half bar with removeable stays, sounds like they put a lot of r&d into it, but its not really going to work with a removeable hardtop. Yes i could just not use the stays, but then im paying extra for something i dont need. And even without the stays they dont know if a hardtop will fit over the bar.
The search contunues.....

Re: Rollbar for nc, ideas??
Removable hardtop will not fit with the bd roll bar. Also the latch that holds the softop down needs a fair bit of fiddling to fit with the BD.
I'd be interested in a basic bar that integrates nicely with the plastic trims.
I'm about 2 mins from AGI

Thanks regie, re the BD bar, david at brown davis said it 'should' fit under the hardtop, chris at mx5 parts said it will fit with some mods to the hardtop lining (not keen on that idea), but ultimately i think the bd bar is not for me.
Have you tried the hardtop over a bd bar?

Re: Rollbar for nc, ideas??
You won't find a bar with backstays that will work with the NC softop UNLESS those stays are removeable as in the BD and the Hard Dog.
The softop takes up all the room.
There is one other option and I think that's a Hard Dog with a stay that runs forward into the cabin.
They will make this for RHD but what a PITA that would be.
BD is the way to go but you will need to pull the stays and modify your hardtop lining to fit
IIRC Greg Bunn is running a BD with a hardtop and Guy Coles with a soft top...You will have to remove the softop to fit the backstays when the Hard is installed.

I don't think you have many more options. For any CAMS event, the roll bar needs to be 'CAMS approved' and as far as I know the BD (road version) is alone in that department (for the NC). I spoke to David at BD a while ago and sent him some pictures of the Hard Dog ND bar, enquiring about a similar 'Australian made' option and he said that it did not meet CAMS requirements (even though it is clearly safer than the factory setup). So it is either a 'CAMS approved' option or the factory setup.
