Re: If you were Mazda ?
More power, bigger brakes, slightly longer chassis, higher roof and adjustable steering column to accommodate above average height aussies.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: If you were Mazda ?
Why is it so soft and with crazy body roll? I assume the solution is thicker sway bars and stiffer springs. Maybe just give us an option for the firm version?

Re: If you were Mazda ?
Mazda seem to be going pretty well. The company seems to ignore road testers often complaining about road noise especially on Mazda 3 but customers still line up. If we are talking sports cars i.e. ND+ then I got it wrong. People are buying the car which is a mystery to me. It is certainly no leap forward over the NC and a step back in some aspects. The question really is whether it will do well in the next few years and where to next. I also think weight has to be lined up against usability and the ND is stripped out of convenience for real use. Incidentally Okibi actually describes a bigger car than the ND.

Mazda have built 1,000,000 MX5's and people are still purchasing them, even when it's wrong it is still right!

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Re: If you were Mazda ?
would be good, but since the current version is over 1000kg. i'd suspect the extra weight of bits and bobs will nudge it towards 1100kg. still good for a 200rwkw car.NitroDann wrote:project.r.racing wrote:flared aches, wider wheels, bigger brakes. rebadged it RX-7.NitroDann wrote:200rwkw out of the box. But then I wouldnt have made any money because I wouldnt have sold any.
All that stuff but keep it convertible and <1000kg and now we are talking !

Re: If you were Mazda ?
a grassroots parts support program like this http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/partsprogram.htm
Better to build it from the ground up (like they have in the USA) than to attempt a top down (ND race) series here.

Re: If you were Mazda ?
Regarding my NA.. More legroom and lower seats with taller backs. Height adjustable and telescopic steering column. 125kw 4 cylinder n/a engine.
Bigger brakes and all manuals to have lsd's.
Re the ND colours, think they should have also offered a red red, blue, green and yellow. There is far to many white/grey colours.

Re: If you were Mazda ?
It would be nice to have a special edition like the SP was when it came out. Just a fire breathing version of the standard version.Like you can get with the Ford Focus....With all the appropriate bits attached to make it memorable. maybe to fiut into a certain class of racing.
I guess they've sort of attempted it with the 2l version but thats hardly fire-breathing alternative

Re: If you were Mazda ?
..... a stronger gearbox! There are too many ND gearbox disintegrations being reported on miata.net, with one poor guy now on his 4th gearbox.
ND 2.0 GT, Eibach springs, GWR Q muffler, Enkei TS10 17x8, Michelin PS4 215/45

ND a step backwards? I'm not sure how many NC's or ND's you've owned or dríven Mr Morlock, but I can assure you after owning two NC's and two ND's the ND in standard form is a big leap over an NC and it's far from being stripped out. I do miss the NC's larger interior space but that's about it.
If I was Mazda I'd bring in the Sports model with the Bilsteins, Brembo brakes and Recaro seats......or at least make these available as accessories. 140kw at the flywheel and having the 2.0 rev a bit more would be nice too.
Form is temporary.Class is permanent.

Re: If you were Mazda ?
If I were Mazda. I would not left Mr Morlock design the MX-5. We'd end up with what is either a backwards NC or Ford Focus convertible.
