Fuel Filters

Postby madmort » Wed Nov 02, 2016 11:58 am

I'm about due for a fuel filter in my 02 NB and want to fit the right one. Genuine near $100, aftermarket $40. Is there any reason to buy genuine? Are all fuel filters basically the same?

Thanks
Mark

I usually just blow them out backwards and refit them unless otherwise instructed. This is very common in the racing community also. Kind of how you blow out an air filter a few times before you replace.

I bought an oem one from Mazda spare parts for $60 give or take.

As far as buying genuine, it's not that important really.
Just get whatever is available at your nearest sca or bursons etc.
It will probably be a fuelmiser brand or similar, which work fine.

Nitro's fix costs nothing.

Well lets say I'm a bit on the painfully fussy side Nitro, I like clean air and fuel so fork out for new filters at recommended intervals even though I probably don't have to.

Stan, I picked up an oem filter for under your price, delivered, thanks for the link.

Thanks all.

That's one thing I've never replaced - on any car I've ever owned - have I been lucky?

I replaced one after 26 years for the first time. Last week
Ive owned he car for 19. Unless the filter was replaced before i got it. It perhaps got changed with the original servicing when it was newish?

I figure that if E85 will start getting dirt into the filter I may as well start with a new one & replace it regularly for a while. If it mucks up the injectors I'll have an excuse to upgrade them.....
