I just had a quick look back through the build, and I object to you reverting to stock, this car is too awesome. Are you planning to sell?


Coilovers are a grey area, and the steering wheel is only legal for pre-1995 cars. The gauge faces and surround are only going to fund a daily driver. Both my Dad and my Uncle have expressed a strong interest in buying it, in which case I'd still get to drive and enjoy it. I'm note sure whether to sell to them or to just keep it. There's more money in selling the parts than there is in the car itself.

Coilovers aren't illegal - especially if your Engineer says it's OK.

I got a new job recently, and I commute an hour and a half every day in Little Red, after spending that long sitting in an MX5 every day, I can fully understand why you'd want something else, country victorian roads and stiff suspension quickly add up to "f this"!! (But don't do it!)

I see I'm too late to jump on the don't take the stuff out of your car bandwagon. I have all of those things on my car and they never made it a magnet for police intervention!* (*other things not related to parts not included!).

Don't run the car too low and you'll most likely never get any grief.

Couldn't believe it when I saw the part out on used parts. Really sad news man, I've enjoyed lurking on this build thread. You can tell that you put a lot into this build. Sad times. Can totally understand though. I sold my black Swift GTi about a decade ago due to highway commuting in Perth. Was a pretty sad time and have been waiting until this year to get back into something light and fun.

If I were you I'd put air con in it and swap the shocks for something more cushy (tokico illuminas?). Anyway, judging by your posts you seem like a very logical guy, I'm sure you've thought it through. Congrats on the new job, hope to see you on here sooner rather than later with a new project.

Thanks cabinets, I'm a logical guy except when it comes to cars. I lose a fair bit of common sense when lusting after Japanese shiney bits.

Gregory is officially running in his stock form. Stock bumper has gone back on as well.

You don't mess around! I'm still sad that you've gone back to stock. You must be feeling quite conflicted about the process.

Is the car still staying in the family and did you end up having it engineered?

The big reason I changed from supercharged to turbo was that I didn't want to have to re-engineer it.

I finished uni 9 days ago, so got straight to work! Didn't want it dragging on to Christmas time. I have been getting pretty emotional while working on Greg, it's been a really large part of my life for the last couple of years, probably a bigger part of my life than a car should be.

Never engineered. It's just too hard down here in Vic. I'd have been better off doing what Bruce did and swapping in an SR20. At this stage it looks like he will be staying in the family, if anyone sees a middle aged couple potting around in Greg they're my parents :lol:

You don't need to re-engineer going from super to turbo? That's interesting.

Took Gregory out for a shakedown today. Went well, the only issue was rear tyre thrum above 55-60kph. Need new tyres anyway, so I'm not worried about it.
It's perfect top-down weather in Melbourne today, the shakedown (which involved a post office trip and a going to test drive a new car) was the most enjoyable drive I've had with Greg for a while. No worrying about the police or insurance, just cruising around in one of the best cars ever made.

I think Greg is definitely still Greg, all the flashy things I stuck on him were nice, very nice, but the interior is still red and the NB8C wheels (thanks again greenltd) look fantastic. Still a car I can be proud of.

My engineer told me that if I engineered for super and decided to go turbo later then I'd have to engineer it all over again.

I've heard others say that it depends what the engineer writes in the report but I didn't want to risk it.
