Just wondering if anyone else has been mad enough to do this mod. Very tricky and a lot of work for the outcome as the NC's are not the same profile even though they look it!

MX5 guys would barely notice it.

I agree but amazing what you can do with time on your hands! At least it's better than the altezzas they replaced - mind you the clear lense comes from a set of those.

Re: unique NA tail lights?
I was reading about the opposite swap this morning. Joyfast Barchetta NA for NC tail lights!

I have been playing around with grafting a pair of these into a hogged out housing. Just need to top up the slush fund and grab a busted tail light with a good rear housing so I don't feel bad about destroying it. End result will be SORT of similar in idea to an NB Garage Vary assembly, body coloured surround with the light unit set down in it.
Lucidty also offer round units similar to the Carbon Miata twin LED rear panel.

I dont know how well known it is, but the NA rear combination lamps won awards for both looks and technology. Personally I think it well deserved a really stylish and elegant lamp for the OEM product. The over use of chocolate wrapping for a rear lamp, as in the NC, is to some not a great look.

Like the OEM on any colour other than Malibu. I tried altezza but too flashy. The oem's are under the house so easy to convert back although have to change the connectors back to stock. When I sell the car I doubt the new owner would notice.

Re: unique NA tail lights?
I've been (very slowly) working on a set of flush mount lenses that dont buldge out of the bodywork, and will be fitting with an LED structure.
original buldging tail light:

Below is my mould plug fitted to the car, it's sunken in from the body outline by 3mm as the cover will be 3mm thick.

Once i've got that made up, i'll be completing my LED inserts (currently a trial testing beta design which wont look like this when it's finished)
