[Advise] Front Bumper Cracked while Parked

Postby Hyder » Tue Oct 25, 2016 12:15 pm

Hi guys,

Someone backed up into the front bumper of my NC-1, MX-5 while it was parked at the station.
I only discovered it upon coming back from office and have no details of the person.

Following are my options:
> Get it Repaired
> Replace it by giving excess of $625 to the insurance company (no premium rise)

What would be your advise? Is there a better option?
The car is otherwise seamless and I would prefer to keep it that way.

I'd head to a panel shop and get a quote on repairs.

If it's less than your excess, skip insurance.
If it's way more than your excess, use insurance.

If the repair cost is only a little bit more than insurance I'd skip insurance, mainly to avoid the extra paperwork and risk of increased premiums (they'll probably classify it as an "at fault" claim)

You could also keep an eye out with the wreckers for an NC of the same color that's been rear ended and buy the factory front bar from it.

Depends how long you can bother waiting.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

agree with HKS- they ( includes small damage specialists ) may be able to repair and blend paint in at reaonable cost.

There are plenty of Mobile repair companies that come to you and give a free quote.
EG: Touch up guys.
Google for them or others in your area
