The new handbrake and gear lever boots look good!
It's good you've finally come to grips with the car and keeping it. Would have been a real shame to go through such an awesome build then not enjoy it for a while.

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
this time it's a suede boot with red stitching
I didn't feel any improvement in the gear changes I thought I may be a few milli- seconds faster in the changes
but not the case. so if any-one buy one of these boots -its more a visual thing

gets better still. I am now dealing now two birds guys ready to buy and want to take them away thursday. I think its too early. combined sale is worth roughly $10,000
but even for that outlay I cant rush the departure and seeing they have no choice but deal with me -time is on my side

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
here's a good story!
I got a call from the BMW z3 buyer asking how long I had the car for. I replied a bit over two and a half years. he asked did you ever have the passenger side window broken as the driver side had tint and the other side window had none.
so I said I have no idea why and I didn't even notice it. well for starters I rarely drove it and besides I thought - who gives a F... if the tint is missing or not as long as the car goes alright.
now the interesting part. ok hawke eyes picked up on a missing window tint which is no big deal but look at these photos
or was it just luck and he has not looked there yet.....or maybe it was a pretty good job
some Z3 have the optional extended leather pack which covers the dash on both sides. over time in some colours red especially it lift and buckles and looks horrible. I had no choice but to cut all the leather out of the dash and clean it up and re-spray the lot.
if you think painting the mx5 dash was involved it was a picnic compared to this nightmare
last photo was the completed work. pretty close match to the original leather colour.

Bugger!!!!!!
Edit*
Sorry should get my eyes looked at. All I saw was the last pic with your ripped leather. I thought it was a broken cover.

nah! that's just my attempt at removing and cutting the leather insert from the dash prior to the re-spray
a lot easier said than done

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
I received a lower back injury about 5 weeks ago going through this door in the photo. still have not got over it yet
its under a metre high so it probably looks bigger than it really is.
today the wife caught me crawling through that same entrance door
and she too was
as she quipped is that how you get into a Lotus
don't think it's for you
well I thought time will tell on that one
yeah I replied if I cant do it - I suppose you will have to drive it for me. now that answer got a good smile from the better half. I just hope my luck is not that bad and I actually get to watch it happen
is it gonna happen? ..........back problem or not I am buying one
I don't care

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
this year the cold weather has really affected the young birds coming into adult plumage. compared to last year they were in full colour by mid october. although I have car plans and sales pending it's a brave buyer who will forks out up to $1000 each -birds with green rings - and within 24 hours they could quite easily be belly up on the floor....dead!
this adult moult is the high stress period for the young and they can keel over very easy -plus my stress level is up a bit too
as i'd like to move them out asap. hopefully i'd say another 3 or 4 weeks to go. the transformation to adulthood is unreal and after that they are problem free and really look the part
well there is one problem...........handing over the cash

You sure do have a lot of birds.
What age do they need to be before you can get good money for them and do they breed easily?

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
theres only half of them in that photo. I think I have 82 or 84 in that particular aviary. as soon as they moult into adult colour they are ready to sell and that's about 8 or 9 months. you can sell them un coloured but you only get about half the head value.
they breed really easy but you have to know a bit about them and how to breed them. like you could buy a pair of mine for $500 or $1000 and they could be dead the next day
so that's the risk and I've seen $700 birds laying on the floor a few times
so to try bird breeding you'd want $5000 to start off and then its a toss of the coin. you could do the lot and they all die or they don't breed or you could do just ok and settle for a full upgrade to 300 hp on your car for free.......or you could say I might as well have half a good lotus too
and add the balance
no tax on bird breeding either -its a high risk hobby.

I am in the process of trying to do a deal. it might happen or it might not
i'd really like to see a factory turbo one side of the garage and a factory supercharged car the other. I think I could deal with that
