I did get all the parts together, yeah. 3" hoses, looks like there's not going to be enough room to feed the hoses to the radiator opening too easily so I might just cut holes in the front bar and rivet some inlet tubes in place. NB8A front, so no existing foglight openings to use.

Yesterday I went to get the car off the trailer. Couldn't find the keys. Eventually found them in the ignition, turned to accessory power, where they had been for 10 days. Oops. Battery measured at 1.9v. Trickle charger wouldn't even try, so I put dad's old dumb charger on it for an hour and then the trickle charger took over. Back to it today, fired up instantly. SuperCharge Gold battery, 2.5 years old, and has been accidentally drained to absolutely dead multiple times, but keeps on going. Decent.

Got the duct plates on today. Simple enough to do, remove caliper/bracket, remove rotor, undo 3 12mm bolts, tin snip the old shield off, then reverse the order to fit the new one. As someone said, the shield needed a small amount of adjustment to stop it from rubbing on the rotor. I just used some pliers to bend it to a position where it doesn't touch the rotor or tie rod end. Only needed adjusting on the left wheel, not the right.

Hoses will be done when my duct inlets arrive. Looks like I'll be hacking a hole in the inner guard plastics to feed the hose through, then cutting a 3" hole on either side of the radiator mouth to put the inlets in for the hoses. Hopefully the inlets will arrive in a week or two.

Inlets have arrived already. 8 days from ordered to my door, not bad for coming from the UK. Granted, it was $37aud shipping on a $42aud order, but still cheaper and faster than I could get something suitable locally. Will try to get them in on Wednesday.

That's pretty quick!

For the benefit of anyone else looking at these inlets, I got mine from Skyshop in Brisbane for $36-odd, and a few bucks in postage. Mine only have one size though (75mm), yours will fit two different sizes of hose by the look of them. Handy if you are local, I think they have premises at the airport.

Well, I got into it this morning. Have decided there's not enough flat surface to get the inlets to mount flush against the front bar without putting an alu ring behind it and riveting through, lots of hassle. Of course I only determined this after cutting a rather large hole in the front bar, but it's all good. For now the ducts are wedged through to the radiator cowl, not as good as high pressure front-facing inlets, but should be effective enough at qr in November. Will cover up the hole with some cloth tape, and put some tape on the other side of the bumper too, for symmetry? Lol. When I finally get around to building an ABS air dam and a larger splitter, I'll use the inlets.

I've joined the PSCRAQ, entered the November MX5 Challenge round at QR, paid for a race licence (which I need to do an observed session to be granted) and should be good to race in 3 weeks time. Just need to get a balaclava and nomex socks, and take the road wheels up to o1g to get some ATR-K semi slicks put on. Will be testing them out on the Friday general practice so Paul has at least a vague idea of how they compare to NT01s. It does mean that if it rains on the weekend, my only 'wet' tyres will be the ATR-Ks, not exactly a good tread for water dispersion.

Hoping the proposed schedule changes. As it is, the Sunday will include a 20 lap race of National circuit. With the new ducts I'm not concerned about my own brakes, but I'm keenly aware that a lot of cars coming from sprints up to racing will not survive.

Good news, I'm still to commit to the MX5 Challenge round at QR. Thanks for the heads up on the observed test. I have a personal commitment on 11/11 that I can not get out of (at least in the morning) so need to see what can be done about the OLT.

Waiting for feedback on the ATR-Ks... I'll be running on AD08R's if I attend.

I'm not sure how they can issue a day licence for racing, if that's required. Makes the whole thing a bit arduous if you would need to go an be observed at some point before you want to do a single day race meeting. Maybe emailing them a link to youtube footage will be enough :p

Yes, road legal. They're a brand new range from Achilles, so nobody has done any track comparisons of them as yet. I'm gonna get a set of 195s on my oem wheels to test out on the Friday, and see how they compare to NT01s. Considering they;re only $150/ea for 195s, if they're even close to the Nittos, they may become a new staple track tyre for a lot of guys on 15s. I won't be doing back to back testing with the Nittos, but I'll at least have some idea of how they compare since there haven't been any other changes to the car since I ran the last club day there on NT01s.

They're about tw120 I think, so 20 higher than NT01s. Not that there's really a standard, so doesn't necessarily mean a huge amount.

I know its not law or an standard but it probably then gets affected by heat cycles. I'm looking for something around 180 or 200... which will get me about 2 years before compound starts reducing in performance. I will do about 15K km in that time So I'd want them to last that long.

Oh well. Probably too aggressive for me then for a road car.That tyre is really for getting to & from track & main use is track. I need it the other way around where 99.9% is road and I may use it for the odd track day
