Nothing really surprising I thought. Good vid.
Would like to see the same amount of development time spent on supercharger kits as has been spent on turbos in the past.
Looking forward to episode 4.

Reading stuff from around here I got the impression lag is a thing of the past.
Will be interesting to hear thier feedback on how they drive.

I expected a bit more power from the Rotrex. The guy that bought my MP45 kit made 128kw.
Maybe the Rotrex has greater efficiency rather than power?

Also thought that a ball bearing turbo reduced lag significantly but I've never had one.

All of my turbo cars have been stock size or just one size up to reduce lag and provide quick spool up in a usable Rev range for street driving.

In the vid they were talking about the area under 2800 rpm were the turbo wasn't on full boost. I suspect that at 2000 RPM the turbo is boosting but just not the full amount.

Don't think I ever drive under 2000 RPM so to me I'd say there is no lag.

Am I correct applying this logic or is it not as simple as that?

I guess it all depends on set up and your driving habits . I was cruising around 2000 rpm but that was with aggressive street cams & heaps of advance. No way I could have done that on stock cams. Timing advance was changed just before I pulled the head off recently.

In the old days I used to barely get below 3000 rpm with just the basic mods on Patchy.I Used to rev the crap out of it in Peak hr traffic.But I didn't do a lot of peak hr commuting in those days.Ive never owned a forced car. Guess I'm getting older

The only reason I see for superchargers is to achieve a specific exhaust note. Which is a completely valid reason, just not a performance related one.

or to keep your gearbox in one piece.... The linear nature of the power delivery is much more friendly to boxes..

It seems like they really handicapped the turbo to keep the fight some what fair. Though I guess they could have done more to make the SC more effective too.

It's an interesting comparison, but I would have liked them to have had a full on go with each setup. And take them to Dann for the tuning

I haven't yet seen a supercharger setup with a small pulley to give lowdown boost and a blowoff valve to bleed off the excess at higher RPM.
I like the nice linear pull of my SC NC but admire the work Nitro Dan and others have put into reducing the lag in newer turbo installs.

Engine longevity...Any increase in power.

Make more power and use it..the engine will wear faster..that's life!

Part 4 is up. I'm looking forward to the segment where they actually drive these on some twisties or a proper track - skid pan is okay but doesn't really tell the full story either.
