yep..

Out of interest, what gearbox are you going to put behind this?

At this point stage 1 is keep the 6sp and run the peak safe torque to redline, hence near 400whp...stage 2 I would go t2 rx7 drivetrain complete... but thats hopefully a ways off...

ManiacLachy wrote:Smells like EFR! Glad to hear you aren't selling, people selling awesome cars right after the build makes me sad.

Dann, you need to tune his car to be scary and wild so Ian doesn't get bored!

Damn right Lachy!, I have a habit, as we all do of looking over the fence to estimate the greeness...and after driving the 911, and doing the maths... it's not going to be as much fun and satisfaction as keep building the car I have, getting it absolutely as fun and sweet as I can.

billybunter wrote:maybe in the end ...you may have thought a bit like me. in my case rather than give the car away for near nothing I would rather go out there with a good quality blockbuster and smash the sh*t out of it rather than some-one get it for next to nothing

now it might sound harsh but over the years I have used a blockbuster on a chainsaw - a car - a lawnmower- but not yet on an SE

it looks like you and I can move forward as he head toward the magic 400 rwhp  I think its good just for head value - like that head value- just to know -you have the power and it cost big $$$ to get that power

Billy, ive said it before, your a crazy fella. Sledgehammer a chainsaw and a lawnmower and a car wtf... Ok, now thats out in the open we prob have it in common about selling stuff... as some back ground the sporting gear I sold over the weekend was my two pushbikes...the costs of which I wont list on a car forum...but ive been a pushbike guy since i was 6, got me through my teens in one piece, and due to a health issue I cant ride them properly anymore and letting them go was more messy than selling my mx5..but now the bikes are gone from my life I'm not letting my mx5 go now.

well you really have to look at what you have got now! it took me a while and I did just that. if I'd sold my car would I miss it and would I be happy. .....probably not or better still no! plus i'd say even if you had sold your car you'd been out and about and eventually drift back and bought another low powered job because the big builds are few and far between and re-spent the big $$$ again  so in theory -you have actually saved money

I think with 300 on tap it really is like sitting in a V8 and then dropping to a 4 pot - your still moving along but I don't think it feels the same  you know what I mean. it's docile to drive but if you want aggression - you get it! I also think when your running the high hp figures it doesn't matter if you use it or not - in my case anyway  I think its knowing it's there

even if they don't know it's there - I will tell them  that why I paid for 300

Nope, after more research I am not going there either...The car is fast, fun and sorted now and will cost another whole std mx5 to raise it 400whp and take some considerable risks for 400whp, risks I'm not willing to take.

I have gotten clearer on what new car I want to move forwards to so this car will be put on the open market and will sell, love it to go to someone I can support and keep in touch with, but that said the car will sell so if you want to chat send me a pm. Cheers.

It is a very well written ad. Best of luck with the sale and the next venture.

So it's more about the journey to get there rather than the finished product.

Beautiful to drive with everything you could ever want from a car. Hardest choice for me was white or silver.
I went up there looking at the Levorg to replace the 08 GT-B Wagon but as soon as I saw the STI Premium and it was all over.
They don't feel that fast compared to snowie or even scooby but a quick check on the speedo soon put that to rest. I think its because they are relatively quiet compared to a convertible. Very easy to lose your license in one of these if your not careful.
I think they they would be perfect if they had another 100kw. They only have 220kw at 300kw it would be a whole lot of fun.

They are really handy as a 4 door and the boot is huge. This is the new family car
The next car will be a Porsche 911 Carrera S, white convertible 991. If and/or when I ever decide to sell the 2 MX-5's I love so very, very much.

After driving a variety of very good, fast cars this last weeks it's never been clearer how much our modern cars are a compromise, one persons perfect car is another persons bane, no car can do everything well, not really well. The more it does everything well the less exciting it was...e92 M3 for example. I'd like another wrx as the family hatch I think they do it really well, I haven't dríven a 991 911, but the 997 Carerra S i drove, magnificent but needed allot more power to match the chassis and make the refined car feel truly alive, something you'd get in the GT2 I would imagine  shame its in another universe price wise.

There might be pics coming soon for the mx5's worthy replacement...

Hey guys,

For those that are following along, I've got a guy flying in Sunday planning to purchase, 2 others with solid enquiries plus another two who have said they would love too and thinking it through... So it seems like it's going to sell pretty quickly. Now I'm feeling it.

Good news is that I'm on track to pick up the new car next week. A 2006 lotus exige s.

Pictures to follow.

Thank you to all the inputs, I have greatly appreciated and enjoyed the communications and so many friendships because of the car and this forum. It's a good thing.

Cheers

Very envious ... oh, not the Exige! Well, yeah of course the Exige!! But that you are able to climb in and out of it  They have the knack of making something that is very cool, look like it's dríven by a complete oaf when you try to climb out  But seriously nice car. Congrats!
