Great to see the car in the hands of an enthusiast, welcome to the obsession
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: Zac's MX5 NB8A (living the dream)
So i've gone through a few tanks and thought I'd update as I was keen to see what kind of fuel economy these cars would get. I have done a little research on how much fuel the mx5 uses and I was expecting to get 8-9l/100kms. My first fill up I calculated 8.5 per 100 on 98. I filled up again tonight and the tank I just used got me 7.7l per 100 so I'm pretty happy with that

Well while I was checking my mileage I averaged 7.3L/100 over 5000 kms in my SE ... but I drive like a Grandad .. oh, wait ...

Re: Zac's MX5 NB8A (living the dream)
Just did my first oil and oil filter service after 5000kms of ownership. So sitting at 135088kms i changed the semi synthetic Valvoline vps 10w 30 out for some 5w 40 Penrite full synthetic and ryco filter. Just took it for a test drive and meh it was alright not better not worse. Is full synth 5w 40 something you guys would use for an NB with low kms? Just wonder if i should use it next time or go back to 10 30 semi like it usually had.

Keep using the Penrite HPR-5, (5w-40) long term the car will thank you for it. It's good stuff and contains a liberal dose of zinc, which is a good thing. Short term, you will notice no difference.

Sweet, sounds good. Always used Penrite in my old corolla and never had a problem.
