The 10AE had an LSD...
Our special editions were a bit lacking.

^Indeed, how could I forget the NB8A 10AE - 10AE also had Bilstein dampers & the 6 speed GB, which reminds me of the NB8A Heritage Edition, also with 6 speed GB & possibly an LSD.

I looked not too long ago in terms of the Australian Domestic Market Heritage, but couldn't find anything freely accessible & definitive like the Mazda Australia Heritage brochure. Might be one on ebay or in someone's collection.

^same.

Even the archived Mazda site has no listing other than including it on the price list ($47k from memory)

I'd love to find a scan of the original brochure too.

the 1991 version would have been about 31K on the road. It came out a few months after I bought my Mariner blue in 1991. It may have come with a CD player. I just don't recall. I remember it had something else which was nice apart from the colour for the same price

An MX-5 in 1996 was listed at $43160 and my bet is that the first car was not much different. However it means nothing now including the used value of an NA which is sub $10,000. Cars gave got cheaper and finance easier. So many will not even consider old cars esp +20 years.

the 1991 version wasnt hugely different from standard. It was about the same price as a NA6. The NA8 is a different beast. Cost went up after they introduced the 1.8 to over $40 like Mr M quoted above. It also had a sticker on the side of a palm or wave. you don't see those stickers anymore. But we figured this was put on by dealers at one stage or another. (maybe)
Jules would know. he had a pristine example. He used to be a big part of the Dodgy Day Crew in Gold Coast. I haven't seen him post for along time. He may not have it anymore. If someone from Gold Coast is still in touch with Jules.....get him to chime in.

That vin no seems correct for Aus car (mine is the same but ending in 17). The Malibu was a stock car With no p/s and viscous diff. Dealer put heavy momo wheels on (which eventually wrecked bushes) and added a/c at point of sale. Limited in quantity produced is what made it special - only 1500 worldwide and as previously advised 55 came here. I reckon numbers would have been depleted now as popular track car colour.
NB SE, NA 1.8.

Haha. It has been a while.
How's things Stan. Still got Patchy???
I still have my car. Will probably never sell her. She's a daily driver..
She needs a good polish but she is still in great nic as always and serviced religiously.

Mine came as per factory spec
- Dealer fitted ac
- No PS
- CD player
- Stickers were removed. There were two types with both having the lettering "Malibu" down the side.

The cars were actually white NA's run through the paint booth again for a "mist" of Sunburst yellow.
The yellow was actually translucent, meaning you could see through it, and if you put the car under fluro light you could see if any paint repair work had been done as the original paint looked brighter due to the white underneath.

55 made it into Australia and I haven't seen one up here for years (other than mine).
I kind of disappeared off the scene after Mikey died and some other things happened that ended most of my socialising.

Cheers
