Re: Megasquirt owners thread
New question.
I have 14point7 spartan 2 and Bosch LSU4.9. Running MS3Pro ECU. AFR seems stuck at 16.2. Calibration setup gives 13.30 and 16.7 AFR then goes back to 16.2 at idle.
Altering VE table makes no difference to AFR reading. What is more likely to have failed the sensor or the controller? It's never been run without heater supply that I know of..It's only done around 3000 km over 14 months. Of late the ECU has been tripping AFR protection maybe indicating that the ECU is seeing a false lean condition. How do I test which has failed the controller or O2 sensor? Should I get an Innovate LC2 instead of the 14point7 controller ? Recommendations appreciated.

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
Have you tried connecting to the innovate serial port directly on the controller and using their software to check the readings that the sensor is seeing? Doing this will help ensure that the issue isn't calibration in MS or incorrectly setup analogue signals.
After that, maybe go through the sensor free air calibration sequence again.

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
Anyone got experience with flex sensors and megasquirt?
I've just finished wiring up a GM flex sensor (13577394) to a mspnp2, and the ecu is still showing 0% ethanol after I put in about 5L of E10 with about 15L of normal premium.
I am sharing 12v source from a couple other gauges, and also sharing a ground wire with a few other things. The sensor output is going straight to the LAUNCH pin.
Would that mess of power/ground wires effect the sensor at all? Would it need it's own dedicated 12v and ground to work properly?
Or would 5L of E10 just not be enough to get above 0% ethanol?
I figured I should be seeing at least 3-4%
Thanks!

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
It will be your software setup most likely.
MSpnp2 cannot do flex fuel. At least not in the past, I think it will just take the input and switch maps, not run flex tune.

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
Gen 2 is capable of flex fuel and will compensate for fuel and timing based on ethanol %.
Maybe earlier software didn't allow it?

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
Somehow I didn't have it enabled.... Works now.
Please forget I ever said anything...
On the plus side, I'm heading to TAS performance in Toowoomba this week to get it all tuned up!
Hoping for somewhere near 250hp (maybe more) on e85

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
Sorry for spam.
After running down to the servo and grabbing some more E10 for testing, I enabled flex again and now it's sitting above 30% ethanol???
I bought the sensor off ebay on the cheap, and other forums are suggesting that some of the ebay sensors are fake and give bad readings?
The frequency settings are in Megasquirt for a GM sensor by default, so not sure why it was working this morning (showing 1-2%), and not now (showing 33-34%)...

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
So you put a few litres of e85, then e10..... Did you empty it between?
Is your setting right for flex fuel ? 150 MHz ? Or something?

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
I've now added about 10L of e10 to about 15L of regular 98.
The settings are default, as per the GM sensor. 50-150mhz range etc.
Starting to think that I shouldn't have wrapped the signal wire next to the 12V wire the whole length along, as the 12v power may be interfering with the AC signal from flex.
Going to find a new power and ground and hopefully that will change something. Otherwise I feel the sensor is a dud

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
How well do 98, e85 and e10 mix?

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
They mix completely.
The New software must add fuel and timing, rather than flex between 2 sets of tunes. It never used to be able to do that. Ms3 flexes between 2 whole tunes.

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
Turns out the flex sensor was a fake. Bought a real one and seems to work fine.
I knew $64 from eBay was too good to be true!
After reading on other forums about the amount of fake sensors sold through ebay, I feel pretty silly for trying my luck on one

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
right.....I'm glad you sorted that out.
would you be willing to share which Flex fuel sensor was right? as well as the one which was fake? Or where you got your proper one from?
tried Amazon but they didn't send to AU.

Re: Megasquirt owners thread
The dud sensor came from eBay user "onestop2046", and after reading his feedback it seems like I'm not the first person to get screwed over by them.
Ended up buying another sensor from a reputable shop, Dirt Devil Racing, who I think have an eBay page as well.
$300 from DDR, or about $250 from Haltech website. Or you can try picking one off an e85 commodore on the super cheap.
Just avoid a cheap sensor that's located in China or Hong Kong etc.
