I sorta thought the first vent was supposed to be vertical, to act as a gurney flap?
What's the underside of the bonnet look like? Just like Dave's?

Support bracing was cut away with a 4" disc grinder then hand filed smooth.
Vents were painted separately then its just a matter of bending by hand the curve of the grill so it sits nice and flush.(Hellaflush)
A bead if the 3M all around and place into position. It sets in 10 mins and is on forever.

Thanks for the pics. A nice neat job. That 3M stuff will never fail.
I've seen an article on the web, you could cut the vents directly into the hood and bend those up. You'd want a steady hand to cut them neat.

I suspect that the part where the outer skin meets the frame would be a pain and cutting the frame without the outer skin wouldn't be fun either.

my paint project is nearly over and the possibility of a car sale looks slim - I like the look of these bonnet vents. where do you get them and if you don't mind telling what do they roughly cost to buy and did you keep your cardboard template :lol:

ive never cut into a bonnet before. done a bit of other stuff...but the bonnet never :roll:

but if it comes to the crunch a car with 300hp should be able to VENT! :lol:

Other suppliers exist.

The pic is for NA. They also do NB and NC specific ones.

Mine came without Gurney flaps too.

Those vents look good on an NB, especially black on black. The look on an NA doesn't really suit.

I have a cad drawing of the vents and will Laser cut some within the next couple of weeks. That was one of the reasons I bought them in the first place. I don't need a vented bonnet but wanted a go at making one.
If they come out good I will get the template copied as well by a sign writer I know.

Yep, it would leak straight down onto all the belts and alternator as well as some electrics.
My Garage Vary bonnet has a rain rail which I bought separately for about $120. To make these rain proof I think I would need to make up some fibre glass pieces to take the rain away. This would of course decrease the cooling dramatically and kind of defeat the purpose.

You could stick it on your car and use as an everyday bonnet and it would probably be fine as long as it didn't p#ss down and you were parked outside all day.

I think it's more a sunny day thing, pretty much like a MX5 anyway.
Do this to your spare bonnet and change over when you need to. Only takes 10 mins to swap over by yourself.

Looks great, so much better without the rivets.

I made a little rain scoop things that reduces water onto the alternator, but that did I've dríven my car several thousand ks now in all weather with my vented bonnet... No dramas.

I think what you have done with the vents is the gold standard.
