Hearing 6000USD more than soft top. Think we might only see high spec 2.0L cars.
PM me if genuinely in the market.

$ 6000 USD seems a lot of money for a version of a hard top / coupe. The difference on an NC was ? nothing like that and they dropped the tourer for Au for that model. If you added $7-8000 over the convertible it would start to look like an expensive little car.

In 2008 (When both the soft top and PRHT were on sale together the premium was about $5k. You're right though, adding the fast back to a high spec ND might stretch the price out to mid $50k's
But then again, I'm sure a lot of NC PRHT models left the showroom for that sort of dosh.

If you had the choice of a second hand ND for 30 grand or an as new 1.8 NA with 32000 k's for 15 g which would you buy? Is it a no brainer?

I don't think so. The NA may take longer to sell and a lot of people couldn't rationalize the value. Afterall the NA is still a 20+ year old car.
The ND on the other hand would appeal to a wider audience.
I'm genuinely interested in the price of the ND RF but won't be getting one.
When will Australian dealers now prices and specs and when are they arriving?

How much do you value the difference in safety equipment?

First known ND accident in USA was within a mile of collecting new car from the dealership. Rear ended by F150 at 60mph and pushed into car in front. All airbags and both crumple zones and the active bonnet deployed. Driver and passenger opened the doors as normal and got out unharmed.

Don't get too carried away Dave, not entirely true.....

There were soft tissue injuries but nothing requiring hospitalisation (as would be case in ANY vehicle in this type of crash).
The active bonnet did not deploy, as it's not fitted in the US......

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
From what I've seen on the US forums, the difference in price between ST and RF is supposedly between $1600USD and $3500USD.
This is bearing in mind that the soft top (cloth and frame) costs a whopping $6000USD. I'd be shocked and amazed if more than 1/4 of the cost of a RF is tied up in the bloody roof. Happy to be proven wrong, but my rebuttal will simply be that Mazda should have just offered a legit coupe (blasphemy, I know).
I'm expecting the RF to be offered at around $38/39k, because in Australia price gouging is virtually a national sport.

......"tell him he's dreamin"
I think you mean $48,000
My prediction is that they will only offer us 2.0 litre GT's with options like piano black roof, machine grey and maybe nappa leather, but I doubt we'll get the fully loaded version like the Canadians.
They are offered Recaro's, Brembo's, Bilsteins and tower brace and lsd's (only on the manuals).
We seem to be the last in the world for pre-orders. The brits were months ago, Canadians and the Us, but still nothing for Oz. Guess we are insignificant, in the scheme of things....pity!

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
It's done. Paid the deposit on my new RF today, will be built in December, so maybe a Christmas present, if not, a New years present to me......haha
Apparently pre-orders in Oz started two days ago....pretty quiet about that, hey Mazda?
My ND was certainly the best car I've owned, so looking forward to a hard roof version.
