Speed,
Nah I hadn't had the time really to do anything with it.
Then when I did drive it, it broke and hasn't run since. On the home stretch now. Car will run again and then I can concentrate on the noise.

Re: Phantom rattles in my NB
It could be the brake pads. I was told, the NB has floating pads [or rather they are loose within their holder and this is by design]. Unlike in the NAs, where they have some sort of spring to stop this. In the NB, when they don't have any pressure on it, they tend to rattle when hitting potholes or on very rough roads etc.
To determine this, drive the car on the same stretch of road that causes the rattles, but this time pressing the brakes slightly to put some pressure on it. If the rattle stops, then it's the floating/loose pads.

Re: Phantom rattles in my NB
NBs have an M spring putting outward pressure on both pads. They don't rattle if the spring is in place, and hasn't been bent badly enough to stop being effective.

They are some very valid points there.
When my car is back I'll left foot brake it and see how it sounds.
Thanks for the idea

Might be obvious, but have you check the spare tyre is bolted down tightly? This happened to me recently.
