How to locate bonnet vents

Guys, I'm asking for tips to LOCATE the bonnet vents. In particular how to transfer it to the underside.
I am not after advice regards the flow of air, the shape of the vents, the size of the moon, etc. We are going right off track here.

Well you could try the magnets to mark out the edges. The frame may get in your way though.
A cardboard template from a specific point from the bonnets edge could also be used to give you an idea. Just transfer from top to bottom.
You mentioned 2 rectangles so I'm guessing you will do one on each side. If that's the case I'd be marking it on the underside and measuring the sh*t out of it for symmetry.

What about a rig similar to a G clamp, Made out of timber and with one jaw hinged instead of the screw?

Work out the position of your vent on the top of the bonnet and transfer a mark to the outside edge.
Place a paper or thin MDF template on the vent position with some tape or blu tak on the top of it .
Rest the throat of the clamp against the mark on the edge and then press the top arm of the "clamp down onto your template to get it to stick to the arm.
Remove the assembly and affix another copy of your vent template to the bottom arm of the "clamp"
Reposition it on the bonnet so the top template lines up with your marked vent and then close the clamp and transfer your bottom template onto the underside of the bonnet.
It would definitely be close enough to give you a rough idea of how much of the support structure would need to be trimmed away.

By some cleco fasteners, make a sheet metal template place it on area you want, drill some holes through the template and the bonnet, transfer the temp,ate to the other side and insert the cleco fasteners.

To break the glue between the bonnet and the support use a wire saw. The glue is strong but the wire saw works. This way you can slip the template behind the supports.

Cleco fasteners require a hole drilled? Trying to avoid that.
But if they were magnetised......

Yes the cleco require a drilled hole, however you are cutting a hole or slits?

No holes thanks. Getting vents pressed, so need an accurate location on underside of bonnet.
I think super strong magnets may work.

I'm sure you could scan the bonnet into a CAD program....design where you want the louvers and then get it laser cut

Finding people with the expertise,software, equipment and ability to do it for a reasonable price will be the challenge

Just might help others to give you more appropriate suggestions

How about masking tape?
Get low tack tape. Mark out where you want for some key points (corners maybe), then transfer tape to the other side of the bonnet. Some other measurements may be needed, like say from edge of bonnet to centre it. But I see no reason you couldn't make that work.

Think Jag E-type pressed in Louvre. Like what you see on the front of lockers, wall air-conditioning.
Ideally I'd like to leave the bracing in, and cut only what I need to on the underside (with a 3cm margin).
The bracing and curve of bonnet are the problems.
