Used the metal epoxy putty puttyfrom Bunnings Motorsport:

Seems ideal for the purpose, will update if it fails (I certainly don't expect it too).

Super effective and easy way to fix droopy latches.

Apparently that stuff takes 30mins to 'set,' this only took 5mins. Although probably not a good idea to put it anywhere like that.

Interesting sidenote: this stuff stinks
If mixing up anymore than a tiny batch like me, I'd seriously consider a mask.
