Hey folks,
had my clutch go today. bummer... Anyway to cut it short, either my master or slave has gone but i'm having trouble identifying which to replace. so at this stage I'm leaning towards just doing them both. If i can figure out the culprit though, id appreciate only buying one part. Also, can anyone recommend a dealer/shop for parts in the south eastern Sydney area? can't exactly drive anymore so the closer the better
So i've read just about as many forums and watched as many videos on the topic as humanly possible this afternoon but im still stumped.. The pedal understandably has no feedback now. very loose feeling. The fluid looks as black as anything ( which i understand is normal?). I don't appear to be loosing any fluid, can't find any leaks. Also had a feel of the rubber boot on the slave to check for fluid leaking with no evidence to suggest that this is the case. thoughts?

The master can leak internally and give zero indication of failure to the trained eye. It could also be the rubber clutch line. I'd check bursons for a replacement since there is likely one close to you. You Could Buy master and slave then replace the slave first and return the master of that was the problem.
Fluid shouldn't be black though, most likely your clutch hydraulics have been unloved for quite some time.

It's usually the slave cylinder, so you could do it first, but if you definitely need the car mobile tomorrow then do both, assuming you can find the parts in time.

You will know that the slave is leaking badly because the leaking fluid will start eating the paint on the firewall.
The rubber boot on the slave can be cracked but is not a real sign of leaks unless its all wet under the rubber boot.
There is a rubber line that runs along the back of the firewall, I've had that split open on me once, ie a totally dead clutch all of a sudden, it can be replaced with a braided line.

That would be the Master, not the slave.
Slave is on the gearbox.
