A video of the Day out on Saturday, its long but some of you might enjoy the extras. A shorter one with just lap time against the 911 turbo will follow.

C'mon people  I get plenty of comments for painted a rocker cover or making a little airbox thing...

BUT

put on some slicks and hook around an international raceway keeping up (and having faster lap times) than a 911 turbo... nothing, not a single input.

Surely there is someone interested in that sort of stuff? I've gone and got bigger rubber for the next run plus found where some of my power has been getting leeched so, expecting much higher tops speeds and better lap times for my skill level.

well,we can all paint a rocker cover Ian,(I'm guilty of painting most things red if I can, lol)
we cant all drive on a racetrack.although I am usually there as a pitcrew of one for Ken,usually get enough thrills/scares just watching!
did you find it very different with the top up and down?

My crappy phone doesn't like videos on the train but did watch it today with no volume and then again with sound when I got home. I was impressed.
I also want to know if your car is faster with the roof up. That Porsche seemed to get in your way under brakes and in corners.

Running with the roof down is slower.

I've tried to post interesting write-ups and vids from events I've attended (maybe they are not interesting to others) and there's almost nil response. I'm at the Pittsworth Street Sprints right now in the middle of a storm, holding the gazebo down, typing this, waiting for then storm to pass so I can check how much my tent leaked.

Just before the storm hit, a new Maloo ute went into the wall hard.

It's much more exciting being here than reading about it.

Haha yeah I'm guilty. I came, I watched, I didn't post
My garage thread is much the same. Sometimes I wonder if I should bother to continue to update the post. The key is to watch the view count. People are watching :)

Keep posting fellas. We are definitely reading. Awesome work showing up a 911 mate. Wish I could do the same one day.

Holy internet gold!!! replies!!! :D :D :D

The secret fact, so don't tell anyone is that 911 turbo was bought for less than Ive spent on my mx5...but yes that's coolest bit of the day, sticking to it's butt was cheeky fun, no pun intended.

Yes it was a little quicker with the roof down, there's a little wind buffeting on the soft top, people said it looked like an air brake at 200kph...but roof down is a good feeling.

Thank you, yes its faster with the roof up for sure, just the drag at higher speeds. Yes there was a few moments under brakes of 50% "get out of my way" and 50% "holy sh*t dont hit the porsche"

Well thanks for reading mine, cheers. Ouch for the Maloo!

I guess there are many people lurking in the shadows, happy to read and get ideas etc but not sure if they have anything to add/contribute, often there isnt much I can add that others are not more experienced/qualified to add, other than an encouraging word...

Thanks luzinit, yeah was a dream day for sure. One to inspire the under dog, that said, and as it was made pretty clear on facebook, that n/a track spec mx5's can be up 5 seconds faster than we were as well, so its still the driver for fast times... respect to the good drivers, I'm working on it. :|

I read your posts, and the American's write ups, but don't watch video often because I'm usually at work when browsing the forums. The reason I don't post much on track day events is I have very little frame of reference or experience, and there's only so many times I can say "wow, cool!" without anything more constructive to add

But rest assured, people are reading and watching, just look at the "Views" count next to the thead, I bet is spikes each time you post.

Thanks ManiacLachy, rest assured, feel free to say "cool" I'll; know exactly what you are saying :D :D

For me when im seeing what others can do fabricating and engine building..."wow, awesome, good job" are my usual 6 year old responses.
