Hi guys,
I was in the process of changing my brake lines and royally messed up.

I removed the right side bolt attached to the bracket. However, after this I tried for almost 2 hours trying to reattach it to both the old and newly supplied brackets with no luck. I suspect that the threads on the hard line bolt must be damaged.
Also the top line bolt is very rounded and I had no luck removing it with a flare wrench...
Need some help as I don't know what to do anymore..

You could either get a 2nd hand line or go to a brake shop and get them to make you new lines.
I've paid 5 to 15 to have lines made that I just bent to suit. Might cost more if they are spending the time on it but no shouldn't be too expensive.

Okay, so my best option is to just replace the entire top/right hardlines that run to the bracket.

I'd say to get new lines and bolts too.
Alternatively, you can make your own lines up with a line bender and a flare tool.
(Dont try to bend lines my hand unless it's a really broad curve, it's too easy to either crush the line or split it)

Thanks for the reply guys.
Will remove the lines tonight and call up some brake stores tomorrow to try get them fabbed up. Don't have the tools to do it myself but hope it won't cost too much.

I use Carlton Brake and Clutch in Carlton (near kogarah) but imagine any brake shop will do.

The hard line & flare nut may be ok? You could have cross threaded & stripped the female thread in the distribution block, which is integral with the hose.

I have a spare distribution block that I tested the line on and it doesn't go in either. Another person suggested that it may be due to the fact that the hose might not be completely 'square' to the mounting. I'm not entirely sure but i'll triple check tomorrow morning

The line & flare nut does not look square to the distribution block in the photo. Temporarily remove the 2 bolts, that attach the block to the chassis, to allow some movement for alignment. You should be able to screw the nut completely in by fingers.

Its possible that the union has a different thread to the hard lines- should be the same but if you could not connect then ? Usual thing is turn nuts backwards and then forward to make sure the nut engages in the thread. Brake place for sure- some one like ABS will do it- I would not even think about doing the flaring etc. There is a good chance the threads are damaged but if the thread is different to the mating items it will never connect. You will get it sorted out by your local guy- ask them for guidance and take a piccy on your phone. Its called a SNAFU and we all suffer it.

Hey all,
So I had one more crack at getting the bolts to line up with the new distribution block this morning. The hardline bolt was a tiny bit threaded at the tip but with a little persuasion I was able to get both in once they were perfectly in line. I've flushed the brakes and all is working good with the new NB8B calipers and NO LEAKS
