The ND is a later model car with more safety features, a warranty and a longer life in front of it and arguably more attractive to some . But its still probably $7K compared to $31K and how often the car is going to be dríven and whether it's a daily is another consideration. Many will not even think about buying an ND until they become even cheaper. MX5s are still not collectable cars and thats likely to take a long time before the value starts to go up.

First of all I don't agree with MrM that Mx5's are not collectable.NA's in good condition with low klms are starting to be worth good money ,NA's in general may not be but that is because lots are tatty or badly modified.Your car will probably keep going up.

Odd I wouldn't try to convince anyone to buy an ND because everyone's situation is different. In my situation I am getting old (68) still love driving, like to "improve" my cars ,don't want any mechanical issues, like the comfort, like the cruise as I regularly do a 110km freeway run to start runs with the ESCAPE Car Club, and really like the tight rattle free drive ,the new wheels and exhaust it has ..............

I do not like the high gearing which sees the 1.5 only getting near peak power in the first two gears under the speed limit but also conceed that it is a pretty easy car to live with as a daily(although mine is a every second daily) and has outstanding economy with 5's available on the freeway and if your get into the 7,s you are really caning it.
I think the base car has better seats and is better value.I know others will disagree but just shows that we all have different expectations and needs.
It is also the closest of any other MX to the feel and feedback of an NA.
Not sure this helps!

The older cars get the harder they become to maintain, bolts seize and every piece of rubber hardens and eventually fails. Maintenance takes time and costs money, look at how often people talk down the higher price of a well maintained MX-5 vs one that's in bad condition, it's hard to get a good return on your investment.

A new car has a warranty and should offer trouble free motoring for years.

The ND is as light as your NA yet will have a bucket load more power, better engineered chassis and suspension. It also offers a great deal more safety over previous models.

Mazda have had a quarter of a century to improve on the original car, it was great for it's time, the ND is great amongst the current range of cars.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

As much as I love NA's, I'm unable to disagree with okibi's post.
To add further salt to the wound of NA owners, the ND is better value for money than the NA was.

Thanks for the feedback....I could afford a New one...but I'm a tight arse....that's why I could afford a ND...Like most baby boomers
Love the NA8....sure it's needed maintenance but it's way ahead of my first Love....AHSprite mk2A which I owned for 40 odd years
I dont change rides often....but the ND is seductive!
and I've only had the NA8 for a couple of years !
I'm feeling guilty wanting to flick her so soon!
You can't demand respect....you have to earn it
NA8 for Fun, CX5 for carrying crap...;)

G'Day

I'm relatively new to the forum and this is post #1. I've been a MX5 fan since the NA was release in 89/90. Tomorrow the planets will finally align and I'll pick up a Soul Red 2.0l GT manual. So, to answer the OP question, that's one more ND hitting the streets.

I'm looking forward to finally becoming an MX5 owner! I already have two trips planned with many more to follow I'm sure.

regards

Manix

just back from O/S and 17 hrs on the plane got me thinking - yes I was definitely going to sell one of my NA's and pick up something like a AH sprite - cant be too bad if you had one for 40 years Odd! Trolled around and found a beauty carsales in Sydney. But yesterday - after jet lag subsided took my NA out for a run. Definitely no AH on the horizon after that!
One thing I'll say for NA's any bits that wear out are easily replaced and and are cheap and readily available. One of my cars '92 has had nearly all of its plastic and rubber bits replaced over time.
In Spain saw the Fiat in a showroom - definitely looks good to me with a better line on the front fender.

As many as we can get cars in Australia. What we get won't be enough. Get your order in early.

Oh really, can I get white with a red interior? Somehow I doubt it. :( :(

You're right, probably not from the factory.

Your combo would be a niche within a niche within a niche.

But you might get lucky and they might do all Australian RFs with red interior. Or yellow. We just don't know yet.

What dollar figure is the RF looking at being? Nearest 1000 will do.
