Nb OBD-II reading

Postby Tigger » Sat Aug 20, 2016 11:52 am

Hi guys. I've got a 2003 NB8C with an OBD-2 port, but I can't seem to connect to the ecu. The same dongle works on a friend's car.
Any thoughts on the matter? I've heard a few things previously:
- Australia did'nt make OBD-II a standard till later, so Aussie delivered version didn't come with the protocol, just the hardware
- antenna needs to be connected as the port needs 12 volts and it runs on the same circuit. I have an aftermarket stereo, if that makes any difference.

I'm using the clear blue elm327 Bluetooth adapter.

Can anyone shed any light in the subject?

Thanks!!

If there's a port, it should work.

2002 on is the line in the sand for AU MX5s http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=44335

As for why it's not working, start by putting a multimeter on it and making sure you do indeed have 12V where you need it.

From memory, Sep 2002 build dates onward had working OBDII in the Aust domestic market.

Thanks Cus. As I suspected. I'll check that out.
