Hi all. I have a 2003 NB, and Repco have given me a valve cover gasket for it.
However, it doesn't fit. The two 'moons' behind the cam gears are the same size, suggesting non svt.
Sooooo, I'm trying to find what engine I have. I can't locate the engine ID on it. I believe it's on the rear of the block on the passenger side, but can't find it.
I thought it was a BP-ZE, but on the throttle body it says BP-4W.
So I'm a little confused.
Any help?

Re: Engine ID location
Look up the part number through the Gates website or similar, and ask them for that specifically.
Repco and co. have trouble supplying correct parts a lot of the time.
Your engine is VVT, but small bits and pieces may be shared between the many iterations of the BP engine.

Re: Engine ID location
Thanks. I tried that, but with no luck. I know the se used the BP-4W, which is why I was more interested in that side of it.
I might get one from elsewhere as I'm having no luck with them.

As smy mentioned the 2003 should have the VVT motor, which appeared here in the NB8B from Oct 2000. Toward the rear of the block on the passenger side almost under the exhaust manifold is the engine number, which should start with BP followed by numbers. On the back of the head there's also a head identifier: NA8: BP05; NB8A: BP4W; NB8B & NB8C: BP6D.

Re: Engine ID location
Thanks for that. I'm not that keen on going under the exhaust manifold lol.
I know which model I have, and it is the SVT, I am more interested in the engine code. Ie BP-ZE/3, BP-4W etc.
I might just get one from somewhere else that isn't a store like that.

Re: Engine ID location
BP-4W is the NB8A and SE head. Non VVT.
BP-Z3 I think is the code you're after.

That's what I suspected. Thanks very much.
