You are right but the factory tolerances are huge so the cars put down the line are"within specs" Imagine if one side was at one end of the specs and the other at the other end!.Much talk about this on the big forum and what constitutes a good spec.BARWON where are you!!

Yes, & what I'm surprised about is the max total toe IN allowed - up to 6.6mm front, & 8.3mm rear

Absolutely, most have used 1/32 or 1/16 inch toe in,not sure of the metric conversion but along way from that!!

The alignment on my ND 2.0 GT with Eibach lowering springs is:

Camber front and rear -1.6
Caster L/R 8.24, 8.05
Toe in
Front L/R 0.01, 0.02
Rear 0.02

I asked for these camber and Toe settings specifically and then as much caster as could be dialled in. It handles and steers like a dream. Very neutral. Like Peter said, the consensus on the big forum is minimal toe in and camber equal front and rear.

Why would they (Fulcrum) have made the toe-in so large If others are suggesting zero or thereabouts. Is there some technical or handling reason for this?

Because Fulcrum most likely cares more about factory spec than what people on forums are saying, their setting was bang in the middle of factory spec.
I'm sure they would do it for you if you have them specific instructions.

Here's a link to Flying Miata recommendations that may be of help.
https://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/alignment.php
On reading it up, increased front toe in provides greater straight-line stability at the cost of some sluggishness of turning response. So minimal toe in,provides quicker turn in response. but I am no expert.
On the subject of caster.....
In the ND castor is very important for steering feel. In an interview that Japolnik had with Dave Coleman (ND design engineer) the following is a quote from Dave Coleman....
"Electric steering doesn’t create feedback, it allows it. The way you make steering feel right is by starting with geometry that creates a strong feedback force through the steering column. Done right, the EPAS system only adds assist to reduce this force to a manageable level. This is why all our cars have unusually high caster settings now. Gives more feedback for us to play with when we’re tuning. Mazda3 has 7 degrees of caster, and ND MX-5 has 8!"

Absolutely correct, you should have no drama with their alignment, but there are other options which some people may want to pursue for different purposes. However it does demonstrate the huge range that Mazda think is ok.If you or others agree with that range then that is your decision and certainly wasn't mean't to imply any criticism of Fulcrum.

Thanks for all the info. I glad I had it checked and adjusted, now I have a baseline to go by, and too many choices. :D

FWIW my alignment is pretty much this as well. I've been happy with it on my ND.

I've ordered my Eibach springs, so after fitting will try these settings.

I'm running pretty much these settings on my Eibached ND RF. But even with 8 degrees of caster, the steering has very little self-centering.
